Too much water and not enough salt can kill you. Most people know that dehydration can cause serious health consequences. What most don’t realize is that too much of a good thing — WATER — can also be dangerous, even deadly.
They call it WATER INTOXICATION or more technically HYPONATREMIA. It happens when the body’s balance of salt and water become quickly diluted. It affects the production of nerve impulses, and impairs mental processes. Cells take on extra water and expand. As they swell, they put stress on the body’s organs, particularly the brain, which has little room to expand within the skull. Sometimes Hyponatremia is caused by an underlying medical condition.
And too much water can kill you during exercise!

You *CAN* overhydrate and die. My nieces classmate in the DC Police Academy did just that. He drank 1 gallon of water before he was supposed to work out for Bike Cop training and died.

Yes it can kill you, just like not getting enough water can kill you. You should be drinking about 8 (8oz) glasses of water a day. And drink more water when working out, or in extremely hot weather, and extremely cold weather.

It is very diffucult, if not impossible to kill yourself by overhydrating.
Pretty much the only way to become overhydrated is in the hospital.

yes you can kill urself . remember that little girl and her parents made her drink lots of water till she had to go tothe hospital, well she died. And you DONT need 8 8oz glasses of water a day. Most of the foods we eat have enough fluids in them that if you drink 2 glasses a day you are fine.

Yes, it's a condition called 'hyponatremia' rare and usually seen in distance runers. It is when too much water has caused an extreme dilution of electrolyte and sodium levels in the body.

Yes, too much water is as bad as not enough water. Stick to about 8 glasses a day and you'll be fine.

It's called hyponatremia-depleted levels of sodium. That why sports drinks are great for hydration with levels of sodium(salt) added. Not sure about the max you can just drink water before it occurs.

Yes, it can kill you. I don't know about the maximum, but it's definitely more than what you normally drink.

no, you cant die. 8 glasses are a reasonable amount. however, if you can handle it,drink more. thousands of Americans are dehydrated and confuse the similar feeling of hunger pains for hunger and really they are dehydration pains.think of that the next time you grab a snack!!!!
o.k. o.k. this is what happens when you drink to much water!!!!!!http://www.funnies.com/water2.htm
