Hey allisong....I am American, white and MY heritage is northern european! I am proud of my heritage, and I am proud that my husband (Mexican) is proud of his as well. My ancestors surely did some horrible things back in their day, as well as their governments, what people are proud of is their family's ability to overcome the hard times and corrupt governments to live a decent life and make things easier for their children, the gatherings and traditions that make them who they are. I suggest that you stop being racist and learn a little about history, and me, before trying to insult me.

Perhaps you are proud of the heritage in most latin american countries today that have a history of massive corruption, not educating their people, forced labor, mass poverty, average literacy in the top 10 largest latin american countries of less than 50%.
Is this the heritage you are so proud of? Perhaps not. Perhaps instead this is the heritage that millions upon millions of Hispanics flee from in order to get to America so they can fly their home country flags as the march and drive their cars around and scream "hecho in Mexico" and then go onto Yahoo Answers and tell everyone that they should be proud of their heritage.

I know a lot of people that are of Mexican descent and deny being of Mexican heritage. These people normally deny speaking Spanish and consider themselves Anglos. There is a category for these people and they are called Chicanos. They are not considered or recognized as Mexicans or Americans. They are a culture of their own. For the most part they are supporters of La Raza foundation and organizations like those but at the same time some are extremely racist against Mexicans when their appearance is evidently from Hispanic descent. They also consider graffiti as a form of art. Most of the Border Patrol Agents are Chicanos. For the normal part they are the ones giving Mexicans legal or not a bad name for everyone. They are the law breakers uneducated people that gives other Mexicans a bad name.

I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion.but personally think they are a bit dellusional.I mean with the terms that some anti illegals throw out there like "anchor babies" and "beaners" do they honestly think that they don't call them that if not to their face at least behind their back?I mean we are talking about the same people that if you lined up a light skinned illegal,brown skinned hispanic american,and brown skin salvadorian they would probably swear the salvadorian and hispanic american were illegal and beaners.Though of course most would deny that its about skin color that its about legal vs illegal.But ask them what characteristics they associate with someone being illegal and they would say 1.brown skin. 2. can't speak english ,though that may actually be describing older naturalized citizens.So yeah they can believe what they wish and wear the blinders for as long as they wish,afterall its a free country.

I have many legal immigrant Latino friends and they hate the illegal-immigration racist movement...why? because they had to be humble and struggle to become citizens and successful. they think the younger generation and the current illegals are disrespectful and lazy. They won't speak out because they have better things to do. I am a white American who is currently on disability so I am going to speak for them
