Not necessarily from the computer, but there could be other issues affecting your eyesight.

I'd recommend an appointment with an opthamologist (sp?) as soon as possible.

You cannot go blind just by looking at a computer screen, not matter how long you look at it. After a while your eyes may strain or get dry, but that's pretty much it. Also, little to no correlation has been established between the use of a computer and the progression of ametropia (vision problem that can be corrected with glasses).

You should consult an optometrist who will help you determine exactly what is the cause of this decrease in eyesight. It is most likely something that would've arisen even without using a computer. If you are around 40 years old or more, that could easily be presbyopia setting in. If you're younger, it may be some hyperopia.

Hope it helps!

I imagine if your retinas focus on any one thing for too long you can damage your eyesight. However, I don't think you could actually go blind by just looking at the computer. Many people become near sighted from reading too many books. I on the other hand used to play an online game for hours on end and because of it would develop terrible migraines.

Your eyes are getting [too] used to the close proximity of the screen (not unlike a book reader might also experience). Re-direct your focus to something distant every 5-10 minutes.
