also would he care about the way we dress??
I'm a Christian and i feel like its ok but there are so many churches preaching about the way you dress and a bunch of other stuff don't you think God is looking at the heart and is more interested at who we are in the inside not the outside??

I know about the old testament and how God talks about the tattoos marking in
Leviticus 19:28 , " 'Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.
but if your gonna follow the old covenant wouldn't you have to follow the whole thing.... didn't Jesus come to die on the cross to end the old covenant and show us the true way?
if you give your heart and life to the Lord wouldn't he convict you of what you should and shouldn't do??

“‘And YOU must not make cuts in YOUR flesh for a deceased soul, and YOU must not put tattoo marking upon yourselves. I am Jehovah.'" - Leviticus 19:28
This is a law set forth by God in the odl testament. While Christians may not be under the law, the principles still apply, and God has certainly not changed his mind. Therefore, yes, God does care about getting tattoos, and is against it.

It depends upon two things, your motivation for getting the tattoo and what type of tattoo you would choose to get. For instance if a man got a small tattoo of the Hebrew letters YHVH on his upper arm because he wanted to be reminded of God and he hoped that people might ask him about the tattoo so that he could tell them about Christ, then I think that would be a reasonable tatto to get since it was for the purpose of glorifying God.
However if a person got a tattoo because they wanted to "look cool" and/or they got a tattoo that had some connotation of sin or something like that then I don't think that the Lord would approve of using the body that He bought with his blood in such a manner.

You are right that God is more concerned about the inside and what is on your heart.
But consider these facts
A tattoo will be there even when you are in your 60s and they can fade or get stretched with age. In a few years, they don't look very good but will be there for the rest of your life.
A tattoo that is out in the open can affect your job chances, especially if you are planning on working in a professsional level position. Certain attire is acceptable and a tattoo in particular is considered unprofessional.
Third and finally in terms of God. You are putting a tattoo on god's temple. Think in terms of decorating a church. Would the content of the tattoo glorify God or detract from God?

The Bible forbids tattoos. It also says not to wear a shirt of two different materials and explains how to sell your children into slavery. IMO, there are 100's of laws in there that no one really follows anymore. Is that OK by God? Nobody knows! But I really think God is much more interested in our believing in Jesus than being able to follow 600+ ancient strict laws word-for-word.

Leviticus 19:28 “Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.”
Personally, I think He just meant He doesn't want us to hurt ourselves. I don't think He would damn anyone just for having a tattoo.

1 Corinthians 6:12
[ Glorify God in Body and Spirit ] All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any
if you want a tatoo, and it will not be a bad witness, go ahead
too many people get too crazy about telling others how they should dress, etc
Matthew 7:3
And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?
its the inner man God wants to change

This may not be nice for me to say as a Christian, but any church that preaches about how you dress is GOOFY ! People come to my church wearing all different kinds of things, and nobody gives a rat's butt. God loves you no matter what you look like or what you adorn your body with.

i don't think god cares if we get tattoos or not. the bible says "don't mark your body in celebration of the dead." how that became "tattoo" I don't know, the word tattoo, meaning to permanently mark the body, came around long after the bible was written. the word may have been around back then but it meant a rythmic beat, didn't become the word we know it as today until the last couple of hundred years.

Point taken, but what is on the outside often reflects what's on the inside. Plus your body is supposed to be a temple, so tattoos are like graffiti right?

The bible says not to in Moses. But we live by the rules in the new testament. I am not sure what it says in the new testament but i know it says we are temples of the holy spirit. I also know it says do not cut thy flesh but I am nit sure if thats in the old testament or new. I personally believe it is a sin but Jesus will forgive you for all your sins. GOD BLESS! JESUS IS LORD! JESUS SAVES! YAY FOR GOD AND JESUS!
