I am an optimistic person and I have very rarely had mood swings in the past. I began smoking weed daily a few weeks ago, and I think it's time to quit all together. I've had a couple of periods of uncontrollable mood swings, which bother me immensely. When I sleep, sometimes I feel so tense that it seems like I have to stretch in order to fall asleep, and although that helps, it doesn't completely do the job. I didn't smoke today, and I'm starting to get negative thoughts again. I don't know if the negativity is directly related to weed, but I don't see what else it could be. Please help!!

I think you are assuming a negative connection with the weed and your moods, because you feel some guilt over smoking. Let it go. Smoke weed. It will help you relax and not take life so seriously all the time. You would probably be having negative thoughts whether you were smoking weed or not. I think you are just looking for a rational explanation for your feelings (depression almost, maybe), and pot seems like a good thing to blame it on--doubt it is related, though.

I would look at different aspects of your life. Is there anything else going on that is bothering you? Work, kids, b/f-g/f? Weed usually relaxes most people and calms you. Stop smoking for a week and see how you feel... I suspect then you'll know if it's the weed.

try checking out a medical website such as webmd or mayo clinic. i know that quiting smoking weed can cause withdrawal symptons much the same as with alcohal and ciggerettes. good luck. If you relapse, try not to be too hard on yourself. remember, these things take time.

If you're gonna quit, taper off ot it rather that stopping cold turkey (if you smoked heavily). I smoked every day for 3 years, then when I quit suddenly, I developed panic disorder from the shock of quitting. Kudos for deciding to quit though, and good luck!

Well, my mother went through the same thing when she stopped smoking the chronic, but not to worry, it'll pass. It's like stopping cigarettes... moody, moody, moody.
