I recently started rescuing stray kittens and cats from my yard and I couldn't figure out for the life of me why these cats poo stank sooooo bad compared to my little indoor princess! Was it just a result of a bad life?!! Well, guess what? The vet says cats poo stinks like heck when they have worms or parasites (or could be an infection too I guess) So I wormed them all and gave them treatment for parasites, and their poo doesn't stink anymore! It will especially happen if your cat goes outside on occasion (they can pick these up from digging in the dirt apparently) or mingles with other cats that have not been treated. Its worth checking out because its especially bad if the kittens have any kind of parasite robbing them of nutrition. If your cat has not been outside or around other animals who have been outside, then just ignore everything I said!
P.S. One of the strays just gave birth to kittens, and she still doesnt stink anymore!!

I'm not surprised her poo smells bad, particularly at the moment because she is nursing; The advice given about making sure she gets plenty of nurtients is great and I fully endorse it. If Mum and kittens haven't been checked over by a vet, now might be a good time. It is possible that your cat has a womb infection - hence the smell. Mummy cats (just like humans) will keep going to look after their brood to their own detriment and may not show any other signs of being unwell. I wouldn't panic, but I would get them to a vet over the next few days just to be on the safe side. Lucky you having a house full of kittens! Good luck.

After the poor thing has given birth that is natural. If she has given birth to many kitties, then she is having a difficult time, cleaning it all up. Now that the kitties are old enough, you clean up the nest box and take a clean cloth and use it on the momies fanny. Keep everything clean. Try a dry food and not canned food. Keep plenty of fresh water on hand. When the kitties are bigger and start to use the litter box, then the Mommies breath will get better. To much work for the Mommie.

Ask your vet if you can feed her high quality, whole milk organic yogurt - something like Stonyfield Farms. It could replace some of the natural beneficial intestinal cultures, she might have lost recently, and it would be easier than feeding her pills (though I saw a pack of "treats" today at Pet Smart that had hollow centers for hiding pills in.
Be sure and ask your vet.

Why are you smelling her fanny? Her **** is supposed to smell awhile, she licks the kittens, she ate the umbilical cord right?
