Well growing up Indian meant that they were native Americans. Now it means Indian from India.
The first thing I think of when its Indian native American is Chief Joseph or the Words Of chief Seattle in his letter to the president.
The First thing I think of when its Indian from India is to ask them about India because its pretty cool
I love to here about peoples cultures. There religions and there history. Honestly I would prefer to live in a world where people identified themselves as HUMAN before mentioning there cultural background.
Because in the Words of Chief Seattle "We are all brothers after all"

You did not specify which Indian. The American Indian or the East Indian.. If you say American Indian they to me are the most attached to the Great Spirits that guides them till all uncertainties in the world are solved. If you say East Indian, I will be saying these are the people whose history, culture, and religions have the ricn deposits of knowledge and understandings. Beautiful faces too.

The first thing that comes to my mind is my friend from India? Just cause we are really good friends, I don't think much about it. I don't know why your friend gets embarrassed what's to be embarrassed about???? It's cool. And people that say otherwise are just those that have to have something bad to say or some type of criticism....So tell her not to worry about what people think she should be proud and forget about those that have something to say! It's all gooood !!!

I think "damn, they get free health care".
Seriously, tribal members and Alaskan Natives get essentially free health care from the government. Not really an equal trade off to having your land, freedom, and lifestyle taken away, but still not bad. I worked at an Alaskan Native clinic, and was amazed at the quality of health care they received.
Being Native is just a skin color and a cool last name, unless you learn about the traditions and culture. It's important to remember your past and honor your future.
Wait...do you mean American Indian or India Indian? It might be a good idea to specify.
If you mean an Indian from India, I've got no judgements against them. They've got really good curry! (and I love curry)

My first thought is "Asian or American Native?"
I try to just think of the person as an individual. If she had an accent, I'd think, "Ah, that accounts for it," but that's about it.
And if she was Asian, maybe she'd know a good source for Indian clothing, which I love. :-)

If you are of Indian blood you should be proud of it, I also know some people that are native and they also are afraid of what people will think of them. It is the same as being french or Italian.
