Im 22 and I am going to go out with a 17 year old girl. I am not going to have sex or do anything like that with her. I have heard that I can get in trouble and go to jail if I kiss or even hug her. Is this true?

I live in Texas also and no you wont get in trouble. In Texas, 17 is the legal consenting age.

Why can't you wait until she is 18 to date her? She is risking nothing - you are risking alot! I don't know if the statutory rape law has changed or if it varies from state to state, but my father threatened (and could have done this) to have my BF arrested for stat. rape. I was 17, he was 18, we took a 30 minute drive crossing over a state line to visit one of his friends. Totally illegal apparently.

no. only i foyu have sexwith her. its considered rape! u can spend at least 3 months in jail for it. u can hug and kiss. u can even have sex, just dont let anyone know about it!

i don't know. i don't think it would make sense that u couldn't even hug her. that would be like saying anyone over 18 couln't hug anyone under 18.
