I'm not quite sure if I belive in God or not. But every now and again, if I feel like I've hit rock bottom and I'm desperate for help, I find myself praying. But since I don't really believe in God, will he just ignore me?

Okay, look. I don't pray because I truly believe that He will help me. I do it because it's nice to have a little hope when life's got you stuck, you know? That's why I'm asking...because I really want to know if he answers prayers. (In all of your opinions.)

God always hears our prayers--no matter what we believe. He doesn't always give an immediate or clear answer. Prayers are answered according to his will. God knows our hearts desires before we even ask, but sometimes what we want and what we need are two different things. (example: a young man is dying and a group of people pray for him to live, but he dies. Does this mean that God did not hear our prayer or did not answer our prayer? No, it means that young man was meant to pass on to be with his maker. We have to have faith that God will take care of us. Hard times tend to make people pray more and rely on God. He wants us to come to him like a small child would run to his/her parents for comfort. When things go wrong in our lives, it helps us to grow spiritually because we turn our lives to God. God loves you--keep praying!!

Getting God to answer a prayer is a crapshoot regardless of what you believe--he doesn't even answer the prayers of Christians most of the time. You are better off forgetting about asking God for help and trying to work things out on your own. You'll get results a lot faster.

Christians may or may not say no.

I'm also an agnostic and the beauty of my beliefs is that God isn't an entity that would condemn me for being confused. He has not proved to me that any one religion is true. He hasn't. And to condemn me for something like that would prove he's not perfect. Because that would make him unfair.... I don't usually think someone who's unfair is also perfect.

I believe God answers all prayers. He is wonderful. He is unbiased. He doesn't condemn someone unless they really deserve it or want it. That's my opinion.

Good luck and feel better. God is there, whether others say so or not. He's there and he listens. What kind of God would he be if he ignored you?!

If you "don't really believe in God" you are an atheist, so why are you inquiring about agnostics and praying?

BTW, a recently concluded study demonstrated praying is ineffective, so it doesn't matter what you believe. Prayers will not be answered.

God will definitely listen to your prayers ! He loves ALL of us, believer or non-believer. As for answering them, he will do that too. But be aware that his answer is not always exactly what you asked for, but it generally works out for the best in due time. (Remember that he's God....not Santa Claus :)

Can he answer prayer(s) of an unbeliever? Yes.
Will he that is up to him.

Case in point. A Muslim left in a hospital by doctors to die prayed and Jesus answered it. The Muslim's name; Dr. Nasir Sadikki.(TBN if you are interested).
