Be very careful with this one because it either can go your way or end the whole friendship. First , you need to find out if he has the same feelings for you , if he does then just come and tell him you love him and you would like to be more than friends BUT note that if your relationship fails so does the friendship. If he doesn't feel the same way then I say leave it alone.

Tell him that you have to sit down and have a serious talk. Be straight forward and tell him how you feel. The longer you wait the more you are going to regret not knowing how he feels. But you will also have to be prepared to hear that he might not want to ruin your friendship. I have been in your position before and my friend is now 1,100 miles away and I have regretted not coming out and saying anything. Good luck!

i think its best to just be open with your feelings. he just might feel the same way and you guys can have a happy relationship. And if he doesn't then at least you know and your heart can slowly move on. its not going to be easy if this doesn't go the way you want it, but i think it would be much harder to keep from telling him that you love him and just stay friends...

"You know what?? you are my best friend, and as such I want you to know I love you very much." Straightforward and tells it like it is. Good luck.
