She is 2 1/2. She loves to play dress up. I don't want something that is difficult to walk in, cause the last 2 years I made her costumes and I went a little overboard cause she couldn't get around too well. When she was a baby she was Ariel The Little Mermaid and last year she was a fairy.

One costume I thought of was to make her a black cat. I would get black stretch pants and a black long sleeve shirt, and put hot pink feather trim around the cuffs and make her a tail and find some black ears. Sound good or do you have a better idea?

Yeah I know cats don't have feather trim, but in my world they do. Really, I saw this idea on the internet somewhere.

I think having her dressed like a cat would be darling! The feathers sound so adorable. Paint a cute pink nose on her and add whiskers and a tail and she'll be the cutest little thing ever!

ooo I absolutely LOVE halloween
and havin 3 kids Im so lucky, costumes galore LOL
ok so my oldest her first halloween she was Magenta a simple one peice outfit with a puppy "hat" and ears
her second she was Pooh bear, another one peice outfit
her third she picked and was a princess, poofy dress and sleeves, then she was a princess angel barbie lol she could NOT pick between the 3 so we made her ALL of the above LOL
she has been a monster bride and a pixie also
my youngest daughter who is 18 months was a witch last year,a patchwork witch, she wore a black dress with orange patches and a black hat with orange lace on it,very easy to walk in and SUPER cute and cheap!
this year she is going as Dorothy from the wizard of oz,a homemade outfit!
and her brother who is 7 months old is going as the Scarecrow,he cant walk yet so the straw(felt) wont matter LOL
I say help her to pick, maybe her fav tv character? show her costumes or pattern pictures you like and think shed like,if she can play dress up then she is smart so help her feel like a big girl and pick,my oldest one did at that age,but my middle one,she could care less so I picked Dorothy LOL
good luck!

Look up "tom arma" on the internet, he makes the costumes that you always see in anne geddies pictures of babies. He has some awsome costumes including a great black cat. my daughter went as the black cat last year., They come with shoe covers so they wont' be walking on the material. Some of his costumes can be pricy. But you can also buy the patterns and make them yourself. I think you can get them at craftstores or try on-line. Also on e-bay, you can get some great deals on tom arma on there. Good luck.

Parent Magazine always helped me with ideas.

My daughters have done the angel costume, snow white, lioness, cat costume, a pumpkin in a pumpkin patch (put her in a wagon full of hay or a brown sheet in the wagon for dirt) How about a flower? Look on the net too

the best part of halloween is making the costumes...my fave by far...my daughter one went as a bowl of cereal..that one stumped me for a few days, lol
the black cat idea sounds cute and fun and comfy
but just for fun, you should check out the costumes at Old Navy, they have a little chicken costume that is so cute and funny

princesses are always fun or a 50s girl with a poodle skirt it's real simple to make. A white button up shirt pony tail on the top of the head and a plain skirt with little dog cut out on it with a leash. annddd dont forget the fake glasses :)

Lets see, we make our costumes each year as well.
We have done Barbie, Winnie the Pooh, A Red Rose, Dorothy, Snow Princess, and a leopard.
All were fairly easy.

I WOULD TAKE HER TO THE STORE AND LET HER LOOK AT A COUPLE COSTUMES AND LET HER PICK WHICH ONE SHE WANTS TO BE IF YOU DIDN'T WANT TO MAKE ONE THIS YEAR! OR GIVE HER A COUPLE IDEAS AND LET HER CHOOSE WHICH ONE SHE WANTS YOU TO MAKE HER! SOME CUTE IDEAS ARE: LIL WITCH,FAIRY,BUMBLE BEE, LADY BUG,PRINCESS,ANGEL,BLACK CAT,AND A FLOWER.
THEY ARE ALL CUTE! WHATEVER YOU GUYS CHOOSE I BET SHE WILL BE CUTE! I LOVE HALLOWEEN! GOOD LUCK AND HAVE A SAFE NIGHT! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

does she have a favorite tv or book character?
your daughter is old enough that you could take her to a store, or show her a pattern book of costumes if you like making them, and let her pick it out herself.
