A child sucking their thumb or sucking their tongue??

I think they are just "self-soothing". Not much you can do either one. Try not to worry, sucking their thumb really dosen't cause all the problems you hear of, many are old wives tales.

Sucking their thumb is worse. They can get teased as they get older by other kids cus they can see it and it also causes teeth problems(which I'm dealing with now with my 8 yr old). Tongue I think is no big deal.

i would have to say...... sucking their thumb, i went to school with a girl years ago, that had that problem as a child and still does it , iam sure still to tis day does too lol but anyways she had buck-teeth very bad ....

Thumb - if it goes on too long (past 1 year), it's very bad for the teeth.

my child sucks his thumb ,,, I have tryed every thing but nothing have worked,,,,,

Neither, both are reflexes...however neither should go on past the age of 1 - 2 at the VERY latest. Then it becomes a habbit.
