Any recomondations on places to go?

I've been twice, and it's a great town, and not just because of the drugs. Lots to see, great museums, cool bars and restaurants, friendly people.
Plus it's very pedestrian friendly; you can walk absolutely everywhere. Hotel rooms are small and expensive. Fly in then train it to the main station in the city. You can then walk to your hotel, take a tram, or taxi.

I would recommend going to France or Italy. There really isn't a whole lot to do in Amsterdam except look at prostitutes. It's only really fun if you're an 18 year old boy who has never had sex before. There aren't many cool places for a 30 year old to hang out and just have a nice drink. There are some nice museums, but you can go to a museum in almost any city. Other than that, there isn't that much to do for fun. Also, this time of year it just rains constantly - every single day.

It is your birthday so you should do whatever you'd like. I love to travel so I always go somewhere new when I get the chance. Amsterdam is suppose to be a wonderful European city. Very cultural, very beautiful and there are lots of things to do there. It would be a great choice for you. I've never been so I can't give you particular advice. It is your bday so I say you should follow your heart.

TRUTH be told SMOKE ALOT OF WEED and then sum they have the best splifs there. if you don't smoke smoke sum 4 me
