If you merely do the physcial part, but the actual teachings is a religion, and should not be included, the mere America part of the phsycial is fine, in my day I was a brown belt ( my day is long gone)

They are legalists. We have learnt that if we want to fight we must first study our opponent, think as they do. I am a christian, and I am looking to do Kungfu (karate and TKD are puncy martial arts in comparison). Meet some new people and learn some new things.

Go for it dude. I was a black belt in TKD before I left it, (I was then caring for a family). FYI, Chuck Norris (ever hear of him) is currently associated with some church (in Texas if memory serves me correctly).
There is an aspect of virtually any martial art. (A religious nature can be attributed to many other things too, if one chooses to go that way) However, in my present opinion, most people can easily avoid it

Crazy Buddhist? Okay, whatever you say. Martial arts are just a thing that Buddhists use to upt ourself in a state called no-mind, where we react without thought. It has nothing to do with our philosophy. They teach you to focus yourself, people who study martial arts are much more disciplined people then those who watch television and play video games all day. It is a positive experience, don't let anyone deprive you of it.

I'm Catholic and we have no problem with Tkd or karate or any discipline of that kind. We understand that the basis is personal discipline and maybe self-defense and not just violence.
Maybe you should say what you do and not that you "fight."

yeah thats great its not bad to know how to fight your supposed to be the definder of your home so it is godly to fight ! think of the bible and how there are so many battles and people died ! but ! there is a point where it can become your religion and you start to worship it you can go to deep with anything you do and also some of those matial arts put a lot of there beliefs on you but if you know who you are a child of christ then just believe what he says and dont listen to the crap they spit out !

I am a christian. First of all, there is nothing wrong with martial arts. My friend, IT IS AN ART for pete's sake. I have no idea what is worng with it. As long as you use it for discipline and for your body's use. God gave us talents, and possibly yours is martial arts. IF you use it for evil, like to hurt other people, use it because you want to bully, and you hold a grudge against them, then that is something that is bad. If you use it for your exercise, like yoga and stuff, theres nothing wrong with it.
Have a good one!

Be ready-let the Truth be like a belt around your waist, and let gods justice protect you like armor.your desire to tell the good news about peace should be like shoes on your feet.let your faith be able to stop all the flaming arrows of the evil one.let gods saving power be like a helmet and for a sword use gods message that comes from the spirit.never stop praying;especially for others......to have the whole armor of god, sounds to much like martial arts to me!

In the past, there was a karate instructor that taught at my church. He was a believer and was a member of the church. Unfortunately, he has since left.
