Hi there, I used to be a hairdresser and I do have an answer for your dilemma. The ends that still have the Sun-In in them are diffused pigments in the hair. When that happens that hair structure has been broken down and the ability to accept new colors gets harder. Colorists use fillers on the hair in order to get a color to take on top of lightened hair. Even natural blondes have trouble retaining color as their pigmentation is so light to begin with that holding that color is tricky. I always suggest going to a professional to get those situations corrected. There is a chemistry-type thing going on and the right formulas are needed to correct your problem. I would need more information to recommend what to do (ie: Are you black hair with red ends, or brown hair with golden ends?) That will make a huge difference. Even after applying a filler to your hair (a straight color base, ie: red, gold, yellow, etc...) another application of another color is required. See, it's kind of complicated. Do me a favor stay away from any drugstore product that has a bad reputation.

Even if you get it done in a salon the light ends will show back up, the only permanent solution to this is to cut that part off. There are things you can do continuously to keep the color of the ends blended. It's a pain though.

i know what you are going through i did the same thing and had to wait four years until it all grew out and now i finally have my natural color all over my hair. I can either suggest going to the salon and seeing what they can do or just chop off the sun in dyed hait. it might hurt at first but in the end you will feel better that its gone. And i tried dying it in the salon and it didnt work for me but everyone has different hair

Do it professionally, I know it's a little more expensive but if you go to someone that knows what they're doing it's less damaging on your hair and it won't look like sh%t

Go get a proffesionally done. Don't use sun in. It's probably not the best for your hair.

sorry to say but it just has to grow out...i used to use that stuff and it turned my hair green...it took several years for it to completely grow out...but when i started coloring my hair blonde it actually covered it up...but get it professionally done...try a malibu treatment...and get some clarifying shampoo for at home...good luck

have you talked to a hair stylist about this? I would ask them about some tips on this subject. She/He might just tell you to trim it more often .
