No it is not a sin to not want to be Catholic. I am in the process of joining the Catholic Church and I really enjoy it, but everyone is different. I think you should pray before you decide to leave. Ask yourself why exactly it is you want to leave, it may not have anything to do with the Church at all. It may just be an inner struggle or God trying to get your attention about something. Good luck, I pray God blesses you and brings you joy and peace.

No, it's not. God wants us to follow His word and be like Christ (a christian). If you feel like God is wanting you to go somewhere else then do so. Spend sometime in prayer about this and if you still feel this way then do it. Don't let any of the denominations confuse you. Follow God's word and you will always be right. Remember all denominations were started by man not Christ.
Also Shane is incorrect about Jesus starting the Catholic church. Christ started the original church but some people couldn't handle having a God you can't see or touch so they started their own church the Catholic church. Check the history of churches to see for your self.

Certainly it is not a sin if you do not want anymore to be a catholic. You are free to chose what religion do you like. You want to worship God but you do not want to be as a follower of any religion .Worshiping has a rule and procedures. You must select the best one religion after you studied it comparatively.

It is not a sin. However, I truly believe that worshiping God must involve practice. By practice I mean daily prayer, forgiving others, taking communion, and so on.
It is entirely possible to be a Christian without being a regular church goer. And if the church strays from Jesus' teachings, all the more reason to stay away...
But...Christianity is a religion of transformation. Every day the world encourages you to look out for number one. The challenge for you is to find a practice, something you can commit to, that will allow you to "take up your cross".

It's a sin not to believe in Jesus Christ as your only Hope of gaining heaven. If you toss away your faith in Jesus, THAT is a sin. If you think that YOUR WORKS get you into heaven, THAT is a sin. If you refuse to wear the Wedding Garment that the King has provided for you, THAT is a sin. Cling to JESUS' WORKS. His Robe of Righteousness will get you into heaven. If the Roman Catholic Church isn't preaching God's Word, find a church that does. Keep meeting with other Christians so your faith doesn't die. Read Dr. Martin Luther's Small Catechism. It contains the basic teachings of Christianity. Keep reading your Bible along with that little book. It will make more sense to you if you do. It has helped me a lot. The Lord's peace be with you.

moniushko,
I'd be glad to talk to you about it through e-mail. If you are serious, you can not be a Roman Catholic. Nobody's got that right except you.
I do need to know what it is you are having trouble with though.
Do you still believe in God? You know, Jesus never did say, "Become Roman Catholic and be saved." He wants trust. And there is a whole lot of trust from me to God.
EDIT: Don't listen to Shane. He doesn't know what he's talking about.

No, not at all. If you are not comfortable being part of the Catholic Church, then leave it. You won't go to hell. Worship the way you want in order to be closer to God.

Of course that's not a sin, the Bible doesn't even mention any denomination. It's just about accepting Christ as your personal savior and repenting of your sins, being born again. James Chapter 3.

First, it doesn't matter what you "want." What matters is what God wants. You have to find and follow what God directs.
Second, what makes you think that being a Catholic is not exactly what God wants for you? Have you asked God?

no in fact i would say it is a wise choice. Just read the bible for yourself and you will see why. Catholics arent encouraged to read the bible are they? If they do, they will see thats they are being taught incorrectly. No more following a man made religion. Follow Gods word..
