Fors hasent changed its starters in a long time
First removee the + cable from the battery
The starter is held in place with 2 1/2 inch bolts. Remove the bottom one first and when replacing the starter replace the top first then the bottom
This is so when you tighten it won't break off the ear.

Is it a 'flathead' V-8? It should be very easy for any 'shade tree' mechanic. Those don't have the solenoid built with the starter. The solenoid is under the hood near an wheel well. Check it first.
Very easy to change.

Has anybody started it by 'by passing' the solenoid switch? That would let you know for sure it's the starter motor and not the solenoid. Check the solenoid first.
