i want to plug it into the computer so i can play things and record them onto garage band, but i dont know where to plug it into.. and how to..

Since your mac has an audio port with a 1/8 inch jack, and your guitar has a 1/4 inch jack, i'm guessing it won't fit in there too well. You could get a 1/4 to 1/8 converter from Radio Shack, but the better option would be to get an audio interface module like this one (http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/FastTrackUSB-main.html ) from m-audio. These devices get the input from your analog device (guitar/mic) and convert them to a digital signal. These plug in via USB or Firewire.

Try an 'audio in' port... can't help with the recording sorry.
