I'm seeing a therapist right now.. and its seems like I am more aware of my problems, but really seems as though my friends know me better than her. And I guess what I tell the therapist is baised, like if I say only certain things to her. How do I know that I'm not building a lie for myself everytime I emphasis a few points to her? Its like an analogy of a sane person becoming insane after talking to a few shrinks and take a few drugs and "treatments".

As a practicing 'shrink' I'll let you in on a little secret.

Your therapist already realizes you are holding back.

A person who has one or more mental illnesses literally cannot lie to the therapist. The person seeking treatment, when attempting to lie, does a fairly poor job of doing so. I was almost fooled once by a person with whom I was speaking with, but about a minute into the conversation I could tell what was happening and decided to change my course of questioning and discussion. Therapists use what is called the "Diagnostics and Statistical Manual, version IV (DSM IV) when trying to figure out if the person with whom they are speaking has some sort of mental illness. But I'll also tell you something else. The criteria set forth by NOA, the APA, NIMH and key universities in the US make it extremely unlikely that you might have any sort of mental illness or are, "going crazy." Washing ones' hands after going to the bathroom is one thing, it is another if one washes their hands every three minutes and all they can think about is getting the germs off their hands, as in one form of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). There are many other forms of this.

The therapist is there to help you work through whatever it is you feel you need to work through. "Hiding" stuff does not seem to me to be helping you work through things, it seems to be making them exponentially worse.

If there is anyone you need to be honest with, it would be that therapist. If you do not like them, ask for a referral to a different therapist. We, as therapists, as not judgemental, okay?

That is a disturbing trend in psychology. Many things that were just thought of as quirks or even advantages are now being labled as official disorders. I suggest that you try to focus on the issue that sent you to a therapist in the first place (if you just went for fun or to make sure you probably don't belong there at all)

You should be honest with her/him you are going there to get help in resolving any issues that you have. If you are not honest than how do you expect to get any help. Of course you are going to be more aware of your problems that is the purpose to be aware. You cannot fix what you don't acknowledge. Good luck
