Please help out this poor kid before the fundies send him over the deep end. He's just a kid, worried about going to hell for masturbating. Any rational advice and reassurance would be helpful.

Thanks. I said my bit.
NO THANKS to the absolutely irresponsible LUNATICS that claim to be heaven-bound, on there.
Some of that "christian" advise was tantamount to CHILD ABUSE!
Sickening....
Let's hope he's a wise kid!

It seems from the tone of his additional details that he really wants to believe in this stuff. What can you do? Try talking a "fundie" as you call them out of something that should be obvious to a 10 year old and it can't be done. If they believe the Earth is only 6000 years old because it fits their belief system, that's what they're going to believe.

My wife and I once worked for a woman on her ranch. She was a very uptight Christian Scientist (she, personally - not all) and walked in on her 13 year old son masturbating. She freaked and totally dumped on him, telling him about all the awful things that god was going to do to him a so forth. Really trashed him and he came to me to talk. I told him that his mom had some pretty hard ideas and her own problems (bad temper, self-important) and that it is a perfectly normal, PRIVATE part of growing up and exploring one's sexuality - just don't get too obsessed with it. And make sure she can't walk in on him again.

Well... if the kid is an atheist, then there is no hell to go to. If the kid is a Christian, I wouldn't worry about it too much, I don't know of any established religions that have suggested you go to hell for masturbation.

It's good of you to be concerned for him - I like that.
I would've responded to him, but he was asking for "help from real christians".
Otherwise, I would've told him that he has learned sin - enough to be afraid of it. I probably would've asked him why he goes to church too - but considering his age, it's probably not 'voluntary'.
I don't belief that a Being judges or destroys his creations - except from his own dissatisfaction in himself (person).

Im not atheist but that is a dumb thing for people to be telling kids. I agree with you on that one. Its dumb what the catholic church comes up with.

OK... he's all set. I told him it was OK, and not a sin... but it could make him go blind, if he does it too much. So, I advised him to only do it until he needs glasses.

Ok, i didnt have time to write something eloquent and timeless, but I put in my two cents worth.
I should have told him its ok... a long as your thinking about Jesus while you do it.

Tell him to nod and smile and not antagonize the natives, and to keep his mouth shut about the masturbation.
