Yes I have an 81/2 year old. And he seems more clingy now more than ever. He's all over me all the time. Sometimes I look at him and see him growing into a young man. Then other times I see him and he's acting like a big baby... I'm really not sure why it's seeming like this now that he's no longer a toddler. I guess it's yet another faze that we have to get through... I wish you luck.

I think it's highly dependent on the child. My experience has been that my son acts badly for a couple of months out of each year. I truly think he's testing me, quite literally, to see how much he can get away with or how much attention he can choke out of me. Maybe 9 is when some boys start, mine was 6. The brat comes and goes ever since.

The problem with 9-year old boys is that they are in-between. My 10-year old son has decided that he is now a pre-teen and that at nine he was just a 'baby'. They are what they are and they are not 9 forever. Hang in there and enjoy. 18 is only 9 years away. Then they are really too grown for their own good!!!!

i have three boys, one 13, one 12 and one nine. I enjoy my nine year old, but he wants to do what the older boys are doing and that gets tough. He isnt the bratty one, my 13 yr. old is!!!!!! YOU WAIT A FEW YEARS if you want to see a real brat. lol

my daughter is 9,I think its a hard age, they are "preteen" outgrowin their childish toys and ideas, but not at the teen level yet,its an inbetween thing and I think its just awkward for them,my girl can be bratty, but its usually got something more to it than just bratt!
I remember 9,it was just way confusing!not wantin to be a kid,but not wantin to grow up either!!!!!

my baby cousin jeremy is nine years old. he is a brat. always bugging his family, getting in trouble at school, not wanting to do chores, hitting, punching, and getting in fights but he has always been cute. he uses his cute face to sometimes get what he wants. i guess its mixed.
