Use dog clippers they are shaped to fit the dogs nail. Cut the tip. Not to close as you will cut the quick and they will bleed.

And your dog will not be as cooperative

There is a special tool for cutting dog nails, but if you don't have one, use a large pair of nail clippers. Clip just below the curve in the nail to avoid the quick being damaged.

If your dog has clear nails- you can easily cut them yourself with dognail cutters- just dont cut into the pink part- thats the quick. If your dogs nails are black- take them to the vet or petsmart or something.

Either buy a dog nail trimmer, have the vet or groomer do it or use regualr nail clippers that we use for toes etc.. it works fine.

If he or she is not used to it, have some one help calm and hold the dog, eventually he/she will get used to it.

We do our cat's nails like this but we no longer need a helper they just allow us to trim their nails, helps keep the scratching down.

Depends on your dog, it's size and it's opposition to having it's nails cut.... Generally start slow... lay on the floor with your dog and pet him/her.... pet his feet and hold his feet... make no other motion get him used to this.... do this for afew days until your dog is comfortable with this.. offer lots of treats when he doesn't object to you holding his feet..... if you have a friend or partner get them to do this also..... then try cutting a toe or two at a time.. offer treats if he sits calmly through it.. have your massage your dogs ears and relax him... be calm gentle and in control... if this doesn't work well ask your vet or a groomer for advice.. or jsut take him in to have it done.... we have a doxie who hates his toe nails being done.. snips and everything... he is getting better.. our dane is fine if you give her a bone and let her sit on your lap.. then she could care less what you do to her feet....

You can use a special trimmer that is made especially for this purpose but i must stress the fact that you must take great care not too cut too deep .Because if you cut the quick the dog could possibly bleed out.
hope this advice helps you

Sorry, can't help you our dog bites when you cut his nails or tries to. We take him to the vet for that and they do not charge us for the nail clipping.

u cut just under the cutic... with your finger put pressure on the toe nail...( u know your doing it right if the nail pops out from the toe) that you are going to cut and it pushes the cutic back then you cut.. if you cut in the cutic it might bleed a bit but not to worry... if you can not see the cutic then you will have to take a guess on where to cut dont cut to short or you will make your pet bleed alot if you cut into it to much.
