As a Muslim, I don't mind the smart, tasteful or intellectually-stimulating questions.

But a lot of people put out ignorant, hate-filled questions. More so, people that answer these questions generally push rightist, conservative, "Muslims are taking over the world!!!" garbage as answers.

We're not taking over the world. We're not terrorists. Our religion specifically forbids killing civilians. usama bin laden and other extremists are ON THE FRINGE, they're EXTREMISTS.. meaning they don't represent the religion. The only thing is they achieve their objective.. which is, a small amount of people carrying out "high profile" but minimal attacks that get them the WORLD'S attention. And if you think they're powerful then either you're a fool, or their plan worked. Dont be phased by terrorists. We will Insh'Allah (God willing) defeat them. Just don't confuse regular Muslims or religious Muslims as terrorists -- cuz its just not like that.

All Muslims are not terrorists, but most terrorists are Muslims. Maybe all the questions are cropping up because currently Muslims all over the world are killing people in the name of Allah using the violent teachings of their prophet as a springboard to poison the minds of their children so they can try and establish some kind of Muslim world where your choice is to convert or die as these are the only options available to the non Muslim according to the Koran.Prior to defending those who have chosen to become your enemy it's always a fine idea to know what his intentions truly are,and Muslims have chosen to make themselves the enemy. The terrorists through their actions and the rest through their silence and inaction. If at some point the rest of the Islamic world chooses to stand against the radicals maybe their can be a more open dialogue, but as long as they are silent and protecting their own they have become the enemy and should be treated as such.

I think that in the United States, at least, the Islamic religion is one of the most misunderstood, not well known, etc. I do not agree with this religion at all but I believe that all of the questions (though not all asked with a right attitude or intent) are just an effort to get a better understanding of something we are hearing a LOT about in the media but dont really understand.
There is a lot of fear and we see the Islamic religion as something that is directly affecting our lives and our country but we dont really know a lot about it- the more we hear in the media , the more questions you will see asked.

It has to do with fear and lack of knowledge. People have been told to think a certain way by the media, friends and family. They have not actually taken the time to see that not all Muslims are extremists. That's like saying all Christians are fundamentalists.
I know how you feel though. I think people want to see it's okay for them to hate someone else they don't know. It's the lemming theory, if one person says it's okay, then everyone else should follow.

All the Pope did was quote someone else. Big deal! Why is he made out to be such a bad guy not only by the Muslim community but it seems like by a lot of people in this forum too.

You are definitely correct.

This bashing of religions has to end.

Unfortunately, misguided individuals from the Christian side will stop at nothing to defame and slander other religions because of their deep-seated prejudice and ignorance.

Thank you for pointing out the truth that not all Muslims are terrorists.

Peace.
