Hey shadowgirl:) I'm pretty-well set in my ways when it comes to religion. However, many ppl have influenced me in non-religious ways.

Change my life in what way?

Do you mean that as an atheist, have I ever encountered a person of religion who suddenly helped me to see the light? No.

Have I seen a different side of people's religions from being on this forum? Yes, many times, and not all of it's pretty. You're here often enough to understand what I'm saying.

Or do you mean...How could I have been raised a Christian, and decide to become an Atheist? That's easy. I had a father who married a zealot who sang in a gospel band. My stepbrother is a minister, I was young, and their beliefs were spoonfed to me at every meal. They took over every single aspect of my life, and dissention was met with violence.

After awhile, I began to question their religion. And the more I questioned, the more I was beaten. I soon decided that I wanted no part of this, and became an agnostic.

It was only after years of soul searching and questioning that I came to the conclusuion it was all a lie.

So yes, I have had people of religion change my life, and help me to become an atheist.

I am very open minded about all religion. Way too many things in religion just don't make sense and in each religion there are too many contradictions if you dig deep enough. At the same time though some things just can't be explained entirely by science. I believe that something bigger then you or me probably has something to do with this world...is it something religious or are we just in some giant ant farm...I don't know one way or the other. I believe that if a person tries to be the best person they can be...well then that's simply all we can do. I am sure that when we die something happens...maybe we are reincarnated...maybe we turn into nothing but worm dirt...maybe turn into a taco...maybe we just get moved to a bigger aquarium and on to the next science project. There are too many religions that contradict each other in such drastic ways that I find it extremely hard to believe that any one of them is completely right. Like I said...be the best person that you can and let the chips fall where they may. As for your question...has anyone, in any religion, changed my life...sure they have. They have all given me new things to think about and research and broaden myself...and be a better person. In the end I am simply grateful to whoever or whatever gave me today. I know that this probably isn't the answer that you were looking for and maybe I just described myself as a follower of some religion...I wouldn't be surprised either to get emails from people telling me that I am going to hell for living the life that I do...so be it...that's just who I am...who else do I need to be.

As a Christian, no athiest or agnostic has changed my life at all. I have been inspired by other Christians, though, in ideas that I believe would help me in my walk with God.

There has been no Athiest who has changed my life. I have been around many and they have all acted as normal as anyone else. They do not compare, nor debate our differences. So as long as they do their own thing and let me do mine, there are no problems, But I pray that someday, they will come twords knowing and loving God. I want them to become children of God.
