Warren, (clever name)
I will answer your question, starting with a question. What if I found out that my religion was wrong about the most important things, but not all things? I was an Elder, in a mainstream Christian church, taught a class for new seekers, lead worship services, and preached sermons. I felt that there was more to a relationship with God, and started looking into all things religious. I discovered that what we call Christianity, was basically invented at the Council of Nicea, in the year 325 A.D. Much of what Jesus taught, was lost, and many things, some of them pagan in origin, were added, to make the new faith palatable to the majority of Roman citizens. I prayed about all this, and talked to some of the other church leaders concerning what I had learned. In the end, I wound up walking away from a future as a pastor, and from a large and good church family. It was a very emotionally expensive decision. The up side of it, is that I was mentally liberated, to seek a true and unencumbered relationship with God. Free from the dogmas and traditions of modern Christianity, I found the soul liberating peace and love that I had always been craving from my Father and King. Church is not completely bad. I think of it as the training wheels of our faith, and the only place in town, where you can even talk about God without being sued.

Basically, what if I died and I was somehow conscious of what was going on, and there was no God/heaven/hell/angels/
forgiveness/salvation/etc?
Well, I wouldn't be surprised that's for damn sure. I'm not sure what religion I am right now, but it's definitely not Christian. I think some Christians deserve to die, not to suffer from death, but to realize that their idea of the afterlife isn't true.
Statistically, none of the religions present today are correct. Especially Christianity and Islam because they're so rigid. To be honest, I really don't care if you can "feel it in your soul" or whatever that crap is. 99.9% chance that you are completely wrong. 99.999999999999999999999999% chance that you are mostly wrong. 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% you are somewhat wrong. 100% chance you are at least partially wrong in one sense. Am I noticing a pattern?

Well, that would suck for me and tons of other people. I definitely have considered the possibility, and for the most part anyone who says he/she hasn't is a liar. I don't care what religion you are or whether you don't have one at all: there's only a very small chance you've never "what-if"ed before. Nonetheless, I'm confident in what I believe in, and don't feel that I've got too much to worry about in that respect, and I'd venture a guess that lots of people feel the same way.

The assumption here is, all church goers live by religion, not so myself and many others live by Faith, not religion.
Islam is a religion, not a faith. Religion is going through the motions with only man made results. In Islam they go thought the motions and when their religion fails them, they cut off your head, with a dull blade, ( man made results )
Religion = Man made results
Faith = Waiting on God

Like everything, it could happen (hypothetically)...it could be hard in a beginning to accept it, but i have nothing to lose because i know i lived a good life anyway, it made me a better person after all.
But what would you lose if my religion is right and you never followed it? have you consider that possibility?? You would lose many things good things, including your chance of having eternal life...who looses more?
PD. I'm christian

Technically, if you're a Christian, it's because you realized your previous religion or non-religion was wrong. You are never born a Christian. It is something you have to choose later on in life.
I used to be Catholic and there were many things (after much studying) that I felt they were wrong about, so I became a protestant.
Look at what Martin Luther did. As a Catholic priest, he protested many things about Catholocism that he thought was wrong and started the protestant movement.
Hence the term "protestant".
So, I think that true religious people are more open to discovering truth, than following doctrine.

thats easy, theres no way it could be if you are following Gods word. its like if you study for a test and get a 100, you know you were studying correctly, you made a 100. Those that study and obey Gods word,,will get a 100. Nope cant even consider it...

thats a very good question.
if i would find out that my religion was false , after recognizing the truth, ,i would select the truth,, but there should be proofs and evidences of that truth.... and verily,, i found that in islam,, and i thank God that i am a born muslim..
"O mankind! Verily there hath come to you a convincing proof from your Lord: For We have sent unto you a light (that is) manifest. " Quran 4.174

nay, we shall follow the ways that we found our fathers (following). What if
it is Satan beckoning them to the Penalty of the (Blazing) Fire?

There is a difference between sincerity & zeal , enthusiasm, and loyalty. You can be zealous, enthusiastic, and loyal to some thing and be WRONG. But you can't be sincere and remain wrong. You can be sincerely wrong, but not the WRONG, and you can't be sincerely wrong for all your life. Sincerity means when i find out i am wrong, I changed.
Quran does not say a word about "Faith". You often find this out in English translation but it doesn't say anything about faith in Arabic. It talks about 'Emaan", which comes from an arabic word which means confirmation. Your "emaan" is what you checked on and what you know for sure. Every time when you find out some proof, your 'emaan' grows. Quran doesnt say anything about "blind faith".

Impossible ...simply...fulfilled prophecies and changed lives.Plus every time the archeologist turns his spade over in the Mid-east(Israel)the Bible becomes truer and truer.The Assyrians were "just a myth"not anymore,Solomon was "just a myth"not since they found his stables,David was" just a myth, a compilation of several kings" not since they found a corner stone with "house of David " on it(3000 yrs old).So just a little study and (oh,yeah,and how about that sarcophugus with John Caiaphas' name on it?The guy who tried Jesus with his fatherinlaw Annas?oh,yeah and that paving stone with Pontius Pilates' name on it?)an attitude of not saying things from ones imagination will prove to anyone.("Yet",Jesus said,"Though one raised from the dead,still some won't believe"parable of Lazurus and the rich man.)
