I have had approximately five serious relationships in my lifetime. Twenty years ago, I thought I found the right woman, but the marriage lasted only three and a half years. In fact, I have not had even a date in seventeen years. What in the Sam Hill am I doing wrong? Better yet, is there something wrong with me? Women often tell me "you're a nice guy but you're not my type". I should would like to know who's type I am. I am tired of going to an empty house alone.

First I think your the wrong Alan C I think her ex was spelt Allen with C. as a last name. Now would I of been an angel telling you if you were the right Alan? Have you tried any one back Y/N
Lordy only knows what it is except for apperancesist or like me coming on to strong I will say I have met gals throughout my years either job related or that & now I am off I ride a bus system in the small town { City } an found a lot that are on my route Etc. and now I am 50. Could be money the most but hopefully evantually things will work out & you will find HER!
Oh by the way the girl I run around or over too is set to regain her ex hubby back & is not divource from him either but 4 -5 yrs?

I would bet that where ever you live there are alot of really nice
and lovely ladies that would go out with you. How hard are you
trying ? Are you charming all the women or are you fussy ?
what are your interests. Do you like to go to dances? Movie buff?
Bowling? Fishing? Flea Markets? Drag races? Amusement Parks? Join a sports team or a club or sign up for a class or just
volunteer somewhere and you will meet lots of single women or
make new friends who would probably love to hook you up with a
single friend. Go to car shows, camping shows art festivals,you
never know who you can meet unless you get out there and
socialize. Its easier for a single man to meet a wonderful women
then to be a single women trying to meet a nice man when you
are in the middle age group.

Wow....here's an answer from a single 51yr. old woman. Practice, practice, practice. The only way you will learn what you want and do not want is to go on dates. You've got to try. Do you know how many first dates I've been on? Many. I'm attractive and very choosy about my husband number 2. I know I'll find him because I know what I'm looking for. You've got to learn that for yourself. Don't be any woman's doormat! Be courageous! Get out there. I wish you the best!

Have you tried any of the online dating services? eHarmony matches you based on your personality "at the deepest levels" (or so they claim). I've never used a dating service so I can't recommend one, but I think I'd go that route if I were single.
What about friends of friends? Or church or community events, coffee shops, Bingo (don't laugh - it isn't just for old ladies anymore!), things like that.
