There's two types of fiber to consider, insoluble fiber and soluble fiber, both of which are usually present together but in varying amounts. Insoluble fiber generally helps to improve gastrointestinal disorders such as indigestion. It also reduces the risks of colon cancer. Soluble fiber (found in oats, fruits, and vegetables like broccoli and carrots), in addition to those benefits mentioned earlier, can help lower blood cholesterol levels.

Unfortunately, your artery will never be completely clean. With a proper diet, you could at least prevent it from getting worse.

3. Drink plenty of water (not less than 1.5 leters per day, which is about 9 full glasses)
4. Practice at least 4 days weekly (each time not less than 30 minutes)

Eating vegetables, especially tomatoes and spinach (when they've figured out this e-coli mess), raw almonds, and other healthy foods. Get plenty of exercise, at least 30 minutes per day.

I saw Oprah the other day and she had Dr. Oz on. He has written a book called "You: The Owner's Manual" that has some great ideas for improving your health.

Changing your diet completely to fresh veggies/fresh fruits and limit your meat intake to 3oz. No carbs of any kind. No noodles,no bread,no grain cereals ,no ice cream,no cheese etc. I try to limit my meats to less red meats and more white meats. . . fish, tuna, pork and chicken. IF I will stay on this diet,my cholesterol drops greatly but I am a meat/pototao/gravy person and at the age of 54 not likely to change things too greatly unless of course I am on my death bed. . . lol
