So my friend and I were talking & Jennifer Connolly comes up. I didn't know who she was, so we looked her up on Wiki. & then it said she was Jewish, and my friend said "oh my god, she's Jewish, she doesn't look it at all!" and I said "what do you mean? " and she said "oh, well, she's so pretty, you know, so you'd never know."
Is my friend alone in this characterization?

ya, That's like soooooo dumb. I don't think so, I mean every country has beautiful ppl. for example India is a country of dark skinned, skinny and overworked people but they have this most beautiful women in the world named AISHWARYA RAI and she is really beautiful. What I mean is that ppl are a mixture and generalizations are unreasonable.

Wow. Well, I guess that the stereotypical image of a Jewish person is someone with a big nose and/or sort of puny looking, like Woody Allen or Barbara Streisand. But there are a LOT of beautiful/handsome Jewish people in the world--Natalie Portman is Jewish, as well. There are blonde Jews, redhaired Jews, pretty Jews, ugly Jews--just like Christians, Muslims, atheists, and everybody else.

It means she doesn't fit the stereotype of olive skin, dark hair & eyes + a large nose.
If you ever have occation to attend a synagoge service, you will notice that there is no way you'd know the congration is Jewish except for the place of worship.
The same crowd would not look out of place in any Church.

I'd like to know what she means. Jews come in different shapes, sizes, and colors. There are blue eyed blonds, black hair and olive skin, red hair and freckles, pug noses, large noses, black skinned from Ethiopia, Chinese from China, Indians from India---they come from all over and have many looks. To be Jewish means to be of a given religion. It is not a race.

The real Jews is different to others people Physically, like Italians or Nordics or Africans or Chinese usually has those noses than are very very different

Well the answer maybe quite simple. She didn't have a big nose, and deep olive eyes with the full, dark Yiddishkight curls in her hair! Mind you, I often hear that people I meet are Christian but they never look Christian.

People typically see jewish people w. big nose light pale skin... Thats at least what hitler labled them lol

It means that whoever said it is not very intellligent. Every nationality has big and little noses. They also have in between noses. DAAA
