i went to the store to get some grease to fry chicken and saw canola oil. what is a canola? i bought vegstable oil

In agriculture, Canola is a trademarked cultivar of the rapeseed plant from which rapeseed oil is obtained. Also known as "LEAR" oil (for Low Erucic Acid Rapeseed), Canola oil was initially bred in Canada by Keith Downey and Baldur Stefansson in the 1970s.

Canola tastes a lot like either sunflower or vegetable oil. I think it also has about the same smoke point so you can use it as a substitute.

canola is made from rapeseeds (almosty vege like plant). Vegetable oil alternative, and is healthier than some other oils.
