You know I thought you were talking about no other parent present. For me, you are a family, a couple, and have as good a future as the rest of humankind.
When I was younger I thought you had to be married to have children. While Im not against it, marriage is definately optional.
I lived with my wife for 2 1/2 years before marriage, and when I count our anniversaries I include that. My wife, on the other hand, does not.
So in the short answer, just respect those who respect you. You are, at least in my country (Canada) technically married anyway. To heck with those who aren't hip enough to agree..

I dont frown on people like you who are living together and have kids. You obviously are doing your best which is a good thing. I think it is a personal choice. For me I like the idea of being married before I have kids. Reason is where I lived before there was this girl who had 12 kids, three for this guy 4 for another 3 for someone else etc. To me that did not look nice. Besides when I have girl children I dont want them to point a finger at me and say you had me and you were not married so who are you to
instill values in me now. I like setting an example for my kids.

Well as your Irish and knowing the Irish your all pretty close !, so why not expalin the prob to the family and have them all do something, catering, some buy booze, one takes the piccies etc, then bribe the priest (I know from experience a bottle of good whisky works :)) and voila you set.

OR just wait, who cares these days anyway, you've been BAD by not being married and having kids, what else could you do ???

Well bully for them I say, your a good mom with a great partner and two adorable kids, what difference does it make whether your married or not, will it change how you feel about your partner or your children, just be yourself and ignore the stigma it shouldn't exist these days and if I had the money I would pay for your wedding.

firstly there is NOTHING wrong with being unmarried! ur still with the father of ur children, and u should be sooooo proud of that....

secondly, there is means and ways of doing the traditional wedding on a budget! i got married in august and spent 3,500 on my perfect day! (all inclusive) it's what u make of it and the company u keep.

thirdly, u dont have to explain ur expenditures to anybody! everybody has to live to a tight budget nowadays, it is the way of live for the 21st century!

All the best to u and ur family, ignore what people say, and be proud of what uv got, u work hard to have what u have! x x x

Not everyone gets married these day for whatever reasons, Your kids have a Mum and Dad that loves them and that's all that matters and marriage isn't compulsary anyway. He is your common law husband and amounts to the same thing, don't worry what other people think it's your life.

This day and age you dont need a piece of paper to have a husband or a wife,, you have been together for 6 years and he is still there and a part of kids life,, in my eyes u have a husband and a father for ur kids,,, let those ole busy bodies deal with there own life.

I have friends who are not married and it works for them.Personally I feel that marrying your partner shows respect for them and gives them security that you do not have,It also seems that having a husband and not a partner is more the norm where you live. When I married we had nothing but we managed as I am sure you would.Whatever your decision be proud of your partner and children
and when you speak of him use his name,it is better than saying my husband.

Oh pah-leeeze. Don't get married...these women are "bragging" because misery loves company. They act like they are so happy, but they have no choice. Honestly, we secretly envy you single gals! No really....I fell into the trap and now I'm f*cking married! It costs WAY more to break up when your married. Believe you me, there are so little benefits that are so not worth it.

Nothing wrong with unmarried couples. I don't understand what is going to cost more if you get married? Nothing will change other than you'll be married.

Johnny P. why do you have to act like that? Thats sorry as hell!
