I have 3 cats, one of which is a Siamese. He has always been the leader and more aggressive than the other 2 but he has started biting my husband and me and this morning he beat up his brother and left a big bloody gash on the side of his head. What could be going on with him? He is 12 yrs. Brothers are 12 and 11

Siamese are naturally more tempermental than other kinds of cats, and it seems he is an older cat, which might be adding to his "catitude" It could just be a phase, try to give him a bit of space for now, see if he changes, if not, it could be something else and perhaps a visit to the vet is in order. Good luck!

1. Take Kitty to the vet and have the cat's health thoroughly checked. The cat could be touchy because of pain from arthritis, other joint problems or a growth of some sort causing him pain.

2. Siamese are indeed temperamental, but a behavior change in an aging animal might also be due to senility or brain damage of some sort. It could be secondary to a tumor, a head injury or a stroke (animals have them too). Again, take him to the vet.

3. If the vet has ruled out any sort of physical problems, Kitty's personality may be changing due to the effects of aging. It's not unusual for animals to have age-associated personality changes, and Siamese being the unpredictable critters they are, it may be more pronounced. The only thing wrong with Mr. Cat may be the crankiness associated with advancing age.

Most importantly, have the cat's health checked to make sure that he is not in some sort of physical pain that makes him cranky. If his problem is purely psychological, perhaps the vet can prescribe an antidepressant or mild sedative (yes, animals take antidepressants too!)

Good luck!

I would question his health. Changes in behavior such as you describe could be caused by some physical upset or problem. Please have a vet check him out with a blood panel and physical exam as soon as you can.

My twelve year old Siamese was a neutered male. He started urinating inappropriately and spraying around the house after twelve years of never having these problems. He was a neutered male and had mammary cancer. By the time it was diagnosed it had metastasized to his lungs and there was nothing we could do to save him.

Siamese cats are very strange creatures, my Siamese cat jumped up in my face and bit me one day for no apparent reason. I spent weeks being treated for the infection. Sounds as though he is just having a moment. Did you call your vet and ask them they may have a better answer for you. good luck

He is likely getting grumpy in his old age. No joke, they do that, and our 2 did it at just about 12-13 years old too.
