BitTorrent is a generic term, there are many programs in OSX you can use to download torrents. I am currently using Transmission (http://transmission.m0k.org/) and it is much nicer than the official BT client or the client built into Acquisition.
Also, Opera 9, it can also do torrents.

I had it for a while. It was awful. I finally uninstalled it when it downloaded a trojan horse onto my computer. It was really hard to find anything worth downloading, and sometimes it took days to download. I had a high-speed cable connection. And sometimes, even after you'd downloaded a movie, you couldn't watch it--it wouldn't work.

It works. You do have to learn how it works, and that it isn't just 'select a file and download.' Go to the home page first and learn all about how it works and how to use it. Don't just download it and learn by trial and error.
;-D You may not like how it works, especially if your Internet connection is slow.
