My ex-lovers, good friends and family members know all my passwords (voicemail, email, internet accounts etc.) And I often ask them to check my email and voicemail because it is something I hate doing.

These people couldn't care less, so I feel secure and enjoy the convenience of the occasional secretary; however, someone recently said that this lack of privacy was strange.

Granted this seemingly paranoid comment came from their own desire to have privacy and not have their messages to me heard or read by another.

Is it such a big deal? Do you share your passwords?

AzOasis8: Isn't it a nice feeling to know that someone has the power to violate you YET they choose not to. Perhaps that is why I do it and have done it all my life.

Mr. Web Master: I'm not a password person so just Mom's and Dad's, but I still have my ex-ex-lover's credit card and my mobile phone is still under my ex-lovers name. We are all friends though. You get back what you put out.

My husband knows mine. I know his. Those who don't want to share may have something to hide, others just want someplace that is theirs alone. It just depends on the relationship and the trust you have with each other.

This topic is taught at most good Computer technology schools, and falls under the category of Internet Security/Business Security. Just as you wouldn't want a hacker to come to your business and wait for you to return with papers off the printer in another room, spin the computer screen around and write down the passwords you have taped to the screen, you don't want to share all of your passwords.

This could be for several different reasons, like family feuds, divorce, partnership dissolution's, what ever the reason, you should not do it. If you have someone that you absolutely trust sister, husband, mother/father. You should tell them where to find the account information at your bank, in the safe deposit box that the manager also has one of the keys too. This way if your important business files are accessible from one of your on-line accounts or your financial records are accessible too, only those you trust have access.

It would be wise for one person to know passwords, etc so if there was an emergency they could use them; or have them written in a place where someone could easily find them; but i think everyone having them isn't a good idea.
You have an incredible level of trust; but in this day and age, unfortunately, there should be some level of privacy. How do you know if someone isn't deleting messages? The opportunities for fraud, etc are too great.

I don't share mine, not because I'm trying to hide something but because it doesn't occur to me to have someone else take care of my personal business. I totally should share my passwords with anyone that will listen though, it seems that I can never remember them anyways. I think it's great that you are that open with your loved ones that you don't have anything to hide. I just hope that none of them ever try to burn you because you seem to be very trusting and it would be a shame for someone with your honesty to be taken advantage of, you would then become just as jaded as the person who felt it was his/her place to butt into your business and make a comment about your lack of privacy being strange.

Not at all. And I'd be embarrased to have anyone know my hotmail password. It's not a phrase one would utter in polite society.

I did. I learned the lesson. Now nobody knows my passwords (except one hacker, I'd imagine)

I find it cool if lovers share their password, but no one else.
