the doctors say that she isn't a good candiate for surgery d/t her age. they are basically recommending keeping her comfortable untill she dies. i am having a hard time believing this, because she seems to be getting better after she was admitted to the hospital. everything that i have looked up reguarding this conditions states that she would have a large amt of blood with BM's, but I have seen no blood at all. they have her on antibiotics and have mentioned trying coumadin on her.

coumadin is a blood thinner. that and heparin they more than likely cant do surgery do to her age. They may lose her . However they maybe able to give her a local and do the surgery i don't know. I did see on the discovery channel they have a new way to use a wire in the veins and a laser to clean them out . They are using it for people with bad circulation in the legs. So that's just a scope. Don't knock you out for it either. Go look at discovery health They just ran it last Friday. Anyway good luck

You didn't say about the the nature of the blockage. Sometimes a blood clotting blockage can be cleared by blood thinning (wolferine) but this may not be practical due to other medication she is on, or the exact nature of the blockage. Surgery is sometimes the only way in this type of problem.

Best wishes to you and your grandmother. I'm saying a prayer to hope she will pull through this :-)

I am so sorry to hear this. Could you get a second opinion from another Dr.? Hope for the best and be there for her.
