Two wrongs don't make a right. If the relationship is going to end, then end it. You will have the high moral ground at least, and that counts for more than you might think. After all, presumably you'll be interested in someone else someday - how do you think they will feel about your petty behaviour? Who would want to be in a relationship with a traitor?

If you do start cheating just because you think things are over, you are just lowering yourself into a constant battle of abuse one-upsmanship, which is not only an ugly thing to do to someone else, but an ugly thing to do to yourself.

Anything worth having is worth waiting for. If someone has some relationship that is so much more important than their current one, then they can end things properly or they are not really ready to start new things.

Resorting to cheating implies on a subconscious level that the person compelled to do so is affect by some event and is likely provoked into the same response in future. This goes to show that the affected person's attention and focus is revolving around the object of intent, in this case, the person to be cheated upon.

Overtime, characteristics of obsession over certain human traits surfaces and habits die hard. All in all, generally time not spent well on an soon to be past issue (object receiving the effects of cheating), when efforts can be made to better oneself without the extra psychological baggage of the event returning to haunt the deed doer (cheater).

From a conventional moral stance, two evils do not right a wrong. This is applied more at seeking consolation in the fear that one party or the other would receive the undesired due consequence. Moral checks developed over societies includes prostrating the offending party through word and/or deed.

I don't think that cheating is okay in any matter whatsoever.Honestly, if you think the relationship is going to end anyway, and you would consider cheating on your boyfriend/girlfriend, you might as well end the relationship THEN start seeing someone else.In my opinion, cheating will end the relationship, only it will end with you boyfriend or girlfriend being emotionally hurt and maybe you even feeling guily. You might as well end it first.

Here again, the old Golden Rule should be used: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

You know how people talk about their exes, so if you can do something good when you are doing a hard thing (breaking up), you should. It isn't fair to hurt someone by breaking up and make them look like a fool on top of it by seeing someone else before the break up happens. There's doing someone wrong, and there's doing someone dirty. That would be dirty in my books.

If you know the relationship is going to end, why not end it first then start seeing the other person. Just responding to your scenario.
