Hi Clarkie. Excellent question! First, please help me correct a very important point. There are many, many different Christians. Only a few are intolerant, angry and uptight. Many more are very accepting, open minded and intelligent people. And that leads me to answer you by saying that I agree with you 100%. All of us are born the way we were created by God. And God doesn't create mistakes.

I don't think anyone chooses their orientation - with a few exceptions, such as the lesbian-until-graduation types at certain colleges and some pseudo-intellectuals who see bisexuality as some kind of daring, artsy behavior. But for the most part, homosexuals don't choose to be attracted to the same sex.
But all people, gay or straight, have a choice about how to deal with their desires and whether or not to act on them. Someone may not be able to help the fact he has a desire to have sex with men, but he sure as heck has a choice about whether or not to actually have sex with men.

There are former homosexuals that have become Christians and repented of their sin and then never returned to Homosexuality........ It was a choice they first made to become homosexual, it was a choice then to "repent" and become a Christian......
If it was not a choice then how could have they changed their mind? ...... God is Love and God is fair.....He would never create an impossible situation for a person.....God states that homosexuality is a sin......
Some people may have been born with a tendency for a bad temper, some people may be born with a tendency to "overeat", gluttony; ...... But it is still a choice to over eat and one can learn to control their temper...... Likewise someone could be born with a "tendency to be tempted with homosexuality but they have the choice to either avoid that temptation or to participate in the sin.....

Well, the actual jury's still out on this one.
We don't know whether it's nature or nurturing with being gay yet. There's of course, evidence on both sides. Brains of dead men were examined and we found that the center of the brain that governs sexual hormone release was 2-3 times larger in gay men. But was that cause or effect? We don't know.
It's also true that gay men statistically tend to have a homosexual experience in childhood that makes them continue to question their identity throughout puberty. Not always, but mostly. Yet this too is inconclusive.
Christians are driven to "Blame" explanations because of the construct of the religion itself. The whole thing in Judeo-Christianity is about "Sin" and "The price you pay for being sinful" and the "blood of the lamb" paying for the sins, like life as a human being is one big swap-meet.
AND in the old testament there is a BIG thing about homosexuality. God DOES NOT LIKE homosexuality. Period. It says that he HATES it. There is no tolerance in the old testament for this kind of behavior. Of course, Jesus was about forgiveness, etc. New testament, lamb of god, blah blah blah and we're back to the exchange of blood for sin.
Naturally, if that was your NATURE, that would not play well into the construct- In fact it puts the whole model out of whack!
But like I say, we don't know. I think the best thing to say is that none of us know anything, when it really comes down to it.

Because the theories that lead to the conclusion that lead to the conclusion that homosexuality (mainly evolution and DNA) go agianst scripture. It seems to me that some Christians aren't truely bigoted agianst gays, they simply insist they have a choice (with all the social consequences) so they can save their own face.

Is a rapist born a rapist? Is a pedophile born a pedophile? Do people have sex with animals because they are born that way? Are people born to practice incest?
I have a hunch there are more people who practice incest than are homosexual. Are they born that way? Do they have a choice?
Sexual sin is anything that goes against God's purpose in sexuality. God created our sexuality. In the bible God explains His purpose.
The reason some people have sexual immoral addictions is because of idolatry. According to Exodus 20 & Romans 1. Do people choose to hate God? Do people choose other gods or images?
If a Gay repents for not believeing in Jesus Christ & Confess Jesus Christ Lord of His life & believe in His heart the atonement & resurrection He will be saved (receive eternal life). God will wash away His sins. Do people choose to do this? Yes. Many have & have been delivered from much.

I believe that maybe because one is not born being gay because there is no actual gene in the DNA to be gay. There's no scientific proof that there is a gay gene its most likely a person choice

I don't think you should just limit this question to Christians only. There are people of all religions, and people with no religion who feel that way. I don't think it is a persons choice. With all of the negativity that people have to deal with when coming out, I don't see anyone just wanting to do that just for the hell of it. But, to answer your question... some people are very ignorant and close-minded when it comes to stuff like this.

It's unfortunate that those who claim to profess goodness and such refuse to believe anything but what they are told no matter what the evidence suggests. A choice?? Not even. A lifestyle? Um no. Biology?? BINGO!
Of course one has to remember these for the most part are also the same ones who scream about the 10 commandments and support the Death Penalty and war too.

I suppose the typical Christian train of thought would be since God created man in His image, He would never create them to be homosexual since that is an abomination. Thus this would make the only other conclusion be that it is a choice not something you are born with.
