I don't think so, there is a law on the books in Colorado that bans dangerous dogs. search LexusNexis.
However, that doesn't mean that Municipalities (Cities) have not banned them.

Also: there is no such thing as a Pit Bull. they are Terriers.
Staffordshire or Bull Terrier are 2 of the most common types
but there are many dogs that are of mix breed with the stafforshire and or Bull Terrier. people who call them Pit Bulls often do not know what they are talking about ("Check out the AKC.Org site) There is a regulation in New York City that bans Pit Bulls and classifies Collies as Pit Bulls.
Thats because Collies once were used in the Bull Pits there but we all know that Collies are sweet and loving unless you abuse them.
there is no breed called Pit Bull.

most cities in colorado have some sort of ordinance banning the posession of Pit bull terriers but the state on the whole has not banned them as of yet. personaly, A ban on the breed is a death sentance for many innocent dogs and if it does come to pass that colorado does ban pits it will only serve to enforce the reason I left in the first place.

To my knowledge there is no state-wide ban on pit bulls or any breed in the US. Certain counties and municipalities have banned the breed.

Denver has killed hundreds of family pets and it seems to me some other cities (Aurora?) have jumped on the bandwagon as well.

If I lived in Colorado (or California and New Mexico), I think I'd be hightailing it out of there.

I know they have been banned in Denver, but I am unsure if they have been banned state wide yet.
