One can live without a heart. during a heart transplant, for a considerable time, you dont have a working heart. The person is kept alive with a heart-lung machine. Also there are many people who have been transplanted with mechanical hearts and have lived for many years.
But I agree with you, you need to have 'a heart to live', when you dont have your heart.

The tinman was living without a heart until the Wizard gave him one...also I've had a lot of bosses in my life and I know that none of them ever had a heart.
