Do you remember being 14? First year of high school--everything is about creating an image and not looking "uncool." It's uncool to be friends with your older sister or be respectful towards anyone, so he is just trying to make a bad-boy image for himself. When he's lashing out is when he needs guidance and good influences the most, although it's hardest to be around him. It's probable that his little friends act the same way and their bad habits are rubbing off on him (isn't peer pressure great?). My advice is just don't react the way he does--if he is yelling and giving you a lot of attitude, be as nice as you can be...it's really hard, I know. He doesn't know he needs you and your family, but he does. You have to rise above his nastiness and be the bigger person.

He is 14 and all his hormones are going crazy. I learned that the best way to handle this emotional rollercoaster age is to institute consequences for inactions or bad attitude, Consequences don't have to be given immediately.
For instance, when my daughters said they would do something and they didn't they were reminded several days or weeks later that because they hadn't done what they had promised the consequence of their inaction was that they weren't being allowed to go to a certain party or dance or to the mall with their friends, etc.
He must learn that his attitude affects everyone in the family.
The other thing that really worked was letting a teenager have the last word. REALLY! If I kept answering them back, everyone ended up yelling and getting mad. If I simply stated my position or opinion and then left the room, they had no one to argue with and could say anything else they wanted to. Don't let him "bait" family members into arguments. Simply let him have the last word and walk away! Ignore whatever he says after that
Good luck. He won't be like this forever as long as it is handled correctly now.

This is actually pretty normal. Many boys at this stage in his life have raging hormones. Their bodies are going through changes and his testosterone levels are very high (which I am sure he is not used to). A lot of males (and females) deal with feelings of anger, depression, and overall moodiness during the teenage years. Although I am sure everything is okay, there may be something in his life that is really bothering him and causing a lot of stress and anxiety. Despite how he acts, continue to show him love and let him know you will be there for him.

He is becomming a man through his hormones. This requires triple the amount a full grown male posseses at any given time to produce the onset of the adult figure. Also, he is asserting his right to be respected and not pushed around. This is healthy behaviour and should not be squelched by beating or degrading, but rather with understanding and conversation. Wise parents know this.

Hormones are setting in and he maybe is having a hard time controling his feelings. Maybe suggest a trip to the doctor? 14 isnt too old to be told off once in a while especially when his behaviour is out of order.... tell your parents your fed up with him....and see if they listen.

He might have a problem at school. You should tell ur parents and make them have a talk with him. He even might of got dumped by a girl! Lol!!! But remember, ur his older sister. You should not let him boss u around. Do not let him take advantage of u or ur parents. Have a talk with him, if that doesn't work, then ignore him.

He's just going through a stage right now, he's seeing how far he can push everyone around him also his hormones are making him act out. Just give it time and things will calm down and you will have your brother back.
