A "good" red wine does not always equate to an "expensive " red wine. Drink what you fancy !
With Fish and peas from the Chippy a red wine is essential, to counteract all that grease, and for those who like it, pickled onions dill pickles and vinegar which are also desirable side dishes.

Yes mate I drunk a bottle of Penfolds 'Grange' red wine down in good old Australia cobber.Its a $250. bottle and it lasted about 20 minutes but it was f*#@ing lovely blue. Gotta go and dig out me old Vegimite. G'day.
