Select a shampoo that states on the label that it is formulated for oily hair or choose one that is extra cleansing or ‘clarifying’.
Stay away from moisturizing shampoos as they are designed to leave a certain amount of oil in your hair as a protection against dryness.
It will be necessary to shampoo your hair everyday in order to remove the oil.
For more thorough cleansing, leave the shampoo on your hair for a few minutes before rinsing it off.
Believe it or not, the WAY you shampoo is important! When your hair feels oily or unclean, you may feel the need to scrub. However, vigorous scrubbing and massage will only serve to stimulate the sebaceous glands, causing them to produce more sebum(oil). Instead, be very gentle while you are shampooing. Simply lather and run your finger-tips lightly over your scalp. Then rinse and repeat the process.
Avoid brushing your hair often or vigorously. This will not only stimulate the sebaceous glands but also will carry the oil throughout the hair.
If you feel the need for a conditioner, - even oily hair can have dry ends because of chemical processing, sun or wind, - use a light conditioner and apply it only to the dry ends of your hair. Rinse thoroughly.

I've been "blessed" with oily hair most of my life. If your hair is oily by noon, there's really no other answer than to wash it in the morning, despite what you want to hear.

If you think about it, it takes no more time to wash, dry, and straighten it in the morning than it does at night ... you just need to teach yourself to go to bed that much earlier so you can get up that much earlier.

Conditioners, in my experience, are a bad idea - even the non-greasy ones make your hair greasier. They add oils that someone with your hair type probably doesn't need, anyway.

I'm also assuming you're using a shampoo made for oily hair. If not, start. Some people will tell you it damages your hair, stripping it of essential oils, etc ... Me, I figure I have enough oil to lose some with no ill effects.

Best of luck to you!

try washing it a couple of times with shampoo and not using conditioner a few nights in a row....see if that does anything....

or it may be the brand of shampoo/conditioner you are using. i used to use garnier fructis and it left my hair greasy at the roots....not at first when i would wash it....but a few hours later....and i tried only using the shampoo....and it still left my hair greasy. my sister in law had the same problem with garnier fructis....so if you use that brand...i would get a different brand....maybe get a cheap shampoo that you know will strip your hair to use a couple of times to get rid of the buildup....but discontinue use of the cheap stuff after the buildup is gone and move on to something like VIVE.

I now use head and shoulders 2 in 1 and condition it once or twice a week and have not had any problems since then....I also switch off and on to VIVE and have never had a problem with that shampoo either.

hope you get the problem solved.

Use conditioner, but get a shampoo and conditioner meant for greasy hair. Avoid putting to much styling product in because that will increase the look of grease. Unfortunatly there isn't much else you can do but wait it out. It will get dryer as you age.

you might be having problems rinsing all the conditioner out of your hair. why dont you try using shampoo + conditioner in the same bottle? and try rinsing your hair for a solid 5 minutes under the shower, instead of the 1 or 2 standard or average minutes for rinsing. your hair might not feel as shiny right out of the shower, but as the next day progresses, you might find you dont have nearly as much of a problem. they also make conditioner for oily hair. several different shampoo companies make it, so you have lots of options. i like Garnier Fructis. as long as you take an extra several minutes to be sure and rinse your hair thoroughly, your problems might be solved. try it out before you pick a best answer. let us know how it works out!

I have really oily scalp too and when i smooth it i try not to put much styling product near the scalp. use clarifying shampoo at leats twice a week , if you color maybe this is not too good for it but it will help with the oily scalp. Aply conditioner to the ends otherwise you will fried them with the constant heat. Use smoothing shampoos in between so you dont have to overuse conditioner or styling products. Like (depending on your type of hair) Biolage smoothing , matrix sleek look , super skinny by paul mitchell, contact your hairdresser and see what she recommends too!
