I am in charge if making the snack for my twins Kindergarten class on friday.
It should be healthy but fun. Their are no children that have peanut allergies or anything.
Thank You for ideas!

You can make a trail/gorp mix. Peanuts, M&Ms, raisins, and your good to go. Anything really! Or what I really enjoy is a mix of popcorn (light butter), Goldfish crackers (low sodium or whole grain for the kiddies), and something sweet, like minature M&Ms. You got to remember that kindergarten kids love familiar foods. And if you serve the mixes in colorful cups, like cupcake liners or Dixies cups with Disney on it, they will love it! Oh...if you want to be super nice add in some Juicy Juice boxes, the mini kind! You'll be super mom forever!

you need apples and peanut butter. Instead of cutting the apples in 4, you want to slice them in half, not the long way, but lay them sideways, when you slice them you will see the star in the middle now you slice them about 1 inch thick each will have a star shape. You can take that to the class explain why it is healthy and have the children explore what shape is in the middle. Then come prepared with plastic knifes so the children can spread the peanut butter on themselves and watch the stars disappear! Or you could spread it on yourself at home. It worked wonders in my classroom when I did it with my 4 yr. olds.

What about oatmeal cookies? O.K. They contain (brown) sugar (which you can cut by at least 25 percent without hurting the flavor) but with rolled oats, (light) wholewheat flour and raisins, they're a reasonably healthy treat.
1 cup raisins
2/3 cup shortening (I use butter because of the taste)
1 1/2 cups brown sugar (I use only 1 cup)
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups flour, sifted
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon OR nutmeg (I find cinnamon a bit milder)
2 1/2 cups quick-cooking rolled oats

Cream shortening and sugar together in a bowl. Stir in beaten eggs, milk, vanilla and raisins.
In another bowl sift flour, salt, baking powder and cinnamon. Combine with oats and stir into creamed mixture, mixing well. Drop by spoonfuls on buttered baking sheets. Bake 12-15 minutes in a 350 degree F. oven. Makes about 60 cookies.

PEANUT BUTTER PINWHEELS

Spread creamy or chunky peanut butter and a little bit of honey on a fresh flour tortilla (available in the refrigerator section of most grocers). Sprinkle with granola, roll up the tortilla, then slice it into bite-size pinwheels

Ants on a log or... bugs on a boat...

Pretty much the same... you cut up celery pieces and fill the crease thing with peanut butter and, put raisins on top... and with bugs on a boat you do the same thing only with apples.

They're both yummy and healthy... I'm 15 and I still make these for myself!

1 oz. KRAFT Cheddar Cheese, cut into bite-sized pieces
1/4 cup whole strawberries, stems removed, quartered
1/4 cup seedless red or green grapes, cut in half

PLACE cheese in 1 side of resealable sandwich-size plastic bag; loosely tie pie cleaner or twist tie around middle of bag. Place fruit in other end of bag; seal bag, then twist pipe cleaner tightly to separate cheese from the fruit.
CURL ends of pipe cleaner to resemble antennae of a butterfly.
REFRIGERATE until ready to serve. Untwist pipe cleaner, leaving bag sealed. Gently shake bag to mix fruit and cheese. Open bag and enjoy!

Cupcakes....with a coating of frosting...then...

on top of this you make odd faces by using grapes for eyes, half strawberries for noses, licorice string for hair or beard....there are some cute candies (Swedish fish) for lips...even dried banana chips make neat eyes...get the small tube of frosting for making eye dots, or freckles. For added fun, have things ready, and have each child make their own face, after you show them one....
