Her eyes are not red, the fluid seems like simple water, it's not thick or gross, and she doesnt have very 'buggish eyes' like some Chi's can have- she has a 'deer-head'. I also don't think it bothers her- but she sure is prettier when it isnt there.

I have 3 Chihuahuas, and 2 of them have the "Deer-head" look you described. They are pretty!!
Anyway, all 3 of my Sweeties have eye issues, especially excessive tearing. I guess it's just normal for them. Also 1 of mine has these pinkish-red lumps of skin on the inside corner of his eyelids. The Vet told me this is called "cherry eyes", and is also common for some Chihuahuas. Just thought I'd throw that in there if it comes up with your pet.
I honestly would not worry about this unless it continues or worsens. Allergies are very common for this breed, so be cautious about chemicals (like carpet cleaners, air fresheners, etc.) or any clothing you may put on your pup.
Good luck!

Chihuahua Watery Eyes

I read in a Chihuahua book that it is very common for their eyes to water because they are so close to the ground and a lot of dust goes into their eyes. You can try wiping her eyes every so often. Or if your dog's eyes water so much that they have tear stains, you can try using a tear stain remover for dogs. Pet stores should carry that. Don't worry though, this is a very common problem and usually doesn't indicate any serious medical complications.

please take her to the vets. if the whites of the eyes have any sort of yellow coloration often this could be a sign of liver disease. The watery eyes --- chis are known to be a cry-er and they often actually do cry. And most chis like to get undr things like blankets this is normal. the legs will just get progressively worse and she will end up not being able to use them. the only cure is surgery. Chis are a one person dog and they take to one person and the idea of moving her back and forth can make her turn nasty. The other thing you need to watch with a chi is sugar drops and to help with this is put a teaspoon of Karo syrup in her drinking water. Also for the diet don't give her the helping the bag says but reduce it some. A[apparently she isn't loved by the original owners if they refuse surgery and on top make her gain that kind of weight that not only affects the legs but thee heart. Good Luck and if you can afford th surgery please help her.

I actually had a problem like this with my Schnauzer recently. I asked the vet and, as weird as it sounds, she said dogs cry just like humans. The first time I noticed it was after I had picked her up from the kennel after being away for a few days. The lady that came to walk the dogs everyday told me she yelped the whole time and was very sluggish. I haven't taken her to the kennel in a long time and haven't had this problem since. She may just be having anxiety from being left alone sometimes. I felt so bad when I found out the reason, I about cried, lol. Hope this helps.

A lot of dogs have eyes that water, not just chis. It is usually not anything to worry about unless it gets greenish/yellowish. You can get products from the pet store to clean the tear stains.

I have a Chihuahua too & he has the same problem. What I did was to buy doggie wipes for whenever his eyes get watery.
