at school, people tease me for being light, and I'm black. I see no problem with it, and I'm half hawaiian and that makes me pretty light. I just don't understand. could someone explain this?

You need to find a group of friends with a brain....it won't matter to them what race you are.

Stupid people always have to make fun of someone in order to blow up their ego.

Those stupid people are called racists.

Mostly ignorance.. Ignorance breeds ignorance, so the environment one grows up in usually has an affect on that. Life experience has a large impact as well. If you grew up with one race being predudiced towards you, you probably will grow a racist attitute toward that group. Personally I think it's all idiocy, I think anyone educated would agree with me on that one.

Not all people are racist just because you're currently dealing with some that are. Ignore the idiots. You won't be in school forever.

You will spend your whole life running into people who judge you based on your appearance, whether it is your skin colour, what your hair looks like, what your nose looks like, whether you are fat or thin, etc. I think partly it is how people are raised - ignorance breeds ignorance, since parents are our primary educators from the moment we are born, for good or for bad. I think it's also a lot to do with our own self-esteem...many people put down others to feel themselves raised up...they feel better when other people feel worse.

By asking the question, you're perpetuating the problem. Get over it and don't address it again.
