He did say it, and was using that verse to prove His divinity, since they were getting ready to stone Him for blasphemy.

Hi :)
My Bible says: They have not know and they do not understand In darkenss they keep walking about All the foundations of the earth are made to totter I myself have said You are gods and All of you are sons of the Most High
And next to gods there is a cross reference to John 10:34
John 10:32-36-Jesus replied to them I displayed to you many find works from the Father. For which of those works are you stoning me? The Jews answered him We are stoning you not for a fine work but for blasphemy even because you although being a man make yourself a god Jesus answered them Is it not written in you Law I said You are gods? If he called gods those against whom the word of God came and yet the Scripture cannot be nullified do you say to me whom the Father santicfied and dispatch into the world You blaspheme because I said I am Gods Son.
So what Im getting from this is were Gods children just like Jesus is. He was called Gods son and the Psalms scripture states that we are sons of the most high. Were not GOD because 1 Corinthians 8:5&6 says For even though ther are those who are called gods whether in haven or on earth just as there are many gods and many lords there is actually one God the Father...

It might help if you had a translation with footnotes to help you understand that Jesus is not putting you on the level of the divine. Please read the following:
[John 10:34] Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your law, 'I said, "You are gods"'?
Footnote:
[1] This is a reference to the judges of Israel who, since they exercised the divine prerogative to judge (Deut 1:17), were called "gods"; cf Exodus 21:6, besides Psalm 82:6 from which the quotation comes.
[John 10:35] If it calls them gods to whom the word of God came, and scripture cannot be set aside,
[John 10:36] can you say that the one whom the Father has consecrated and sent into the world blasphemes because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?
Footnote:
[1] Consecrated: this may be a reference to the rededicated altar at the Hanukkah feast; see the note on John 10:22.

Psalm 82:6 is referring to the judges of that time. They were called gods because of their authority. The term was often used sarcastically, meaning that the judges often gave themselves more authority than they deserved. The same was true of the Jewish leaders who were trying to stone Jesus in the verses from John chapter 10 which you refer to. They wanted to stone Jesus because He claimed to be the Son of God. His response was to say that in their own law those of the stature of the leaders were referred to as gods, even though their actions did not justify the title. Jesus, on the other hand, demonstrated that indeed He was God through His actions (some miraculous) and yet they wanted to stone Him for blasphemy.

Since I was not there I cannot say for sure but it is quite possible Jesus was what some would describe as a mystic.
Often the distinction between (wo)man and God/Godess is blurred when experiencing mystical union.
Jesus simply may have been pointing to the divine origin of all creation and maybe, maybe not, even more so about his own Divinity.

Questions about Jesus, or Questions designed to convert or recruit people to Jesus (or even away from Jesus for that matter)are simply a waste of time. People have already decided for the most part if they believe in the fiction written in the bible. People who feel God talks to them have psychological problems because hearing voices is a psychological illness. All the major world religions have issues like this.

I think you need to go back and re-read your Bible. Let's start at the beginning of the chapter82 vs. 1- God presides in the great assembly; he gives judgment among the "gods": vs.2- " How long will you defend the wicked? Selah vs3- Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. vs4- Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked. vs5- "They know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. vs6- "I said, 'You are "gods"; you are all sons of the Most High.' vs7- But you will die like mere men; you will fall like every other ruler.' vs8- Rise up, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are your inheritance.
If you note when he says we are "gods", I do believe that he is referring to us as someone who has sinned as it says in the Bible. If you notice that Jesus was crucified for our sins, died and rose from the grave. He was perfect in every way. If we were perfect then we our selves could then die for our own sins. But we are not perfect. God uses a small "g" we are no where to being like the one true God. If you ever have any questions about something in the Bible ask your minister.

The Jewish leaders have just challenged, rather teasingly, Jesus because He claimed to be the Son of God. They were saying it was blasphemy to do so. He's pointing out that their own Jewish law states that the Judges were referred to as gods for their ability to judge as God would. So, if their own law refers to some humans as gods, what law would Jesus have then broken by claiming to be God's son? He's caught them with their own law.
Nice attempt to stur up controversy though. I'm sure you challenged many to look this up and learn. So, thanks for helping fellow Christians learn more of the Word.

That's right, when the Jews falsely accused Jesus of being God, he corrected their misconception with quoting the above verse.
Jesus liken himself not to God Almighty, but to the human judges that had power and life over Israel.
