Regular Pepsi is filled with sweeters and other things-sugar, carbohydrates, Sodium, etc. Because of this, Regualar Pepsi has a higher density than Diet Pepsi. Diet Pepsi doesnt have the things that Pepsi has- the sugar, sodium, and things like that, so it has a lower density.
Remember that the density of water is 1g/cubic centimeter. Anything with a density higher than this will sink, whereas anything with a density lower than this will float. Since Diet Pepsi has a density lower than 1g/ cubic centimeter, it floats. Regualar Pepsi's density is higher than 1g/cubic centimeter, so it will sink.
The next time you have both cans, you should try this experiment.

Remember, though, it's not "heavier," it's denser. There's an important distinction between density and weight: weight is the pull of Earth on a mass (an object), while density is the amount of stuff (mass) divided by the amount of space the object takes up (volume). Don't forget that mass and weight are different, too. Mass is the amount of stuff in an object (volume doesn't matter) and, like before, weight is the pull of one mass (generally the Earth or a different planet) on another mass (in this case, a can of Pepsi).

Both have some air in them which gives them buoyancy but, if your observation is correct, then the massive amount of sugar in the regular Pepsi makes it sink.

A diet pepsi has less dense then regular pepsi, therefore less dense means it will always float whereas more dense will always sink to the bottom.

Because there is more carmel coloring (hence the reason regular pepsi is darker then diet) as well as sugar

Really
if thats true then sugar is the reason
sugar increased the density of regular coke
hence heavier than diet
so it sinks

Sugar is heavier than artificial sweetener. I know it sounds stupid but it's true. Think about it, when you make sweet tea for instance, you have to put a ton of sugar in it. Even though it dissolves it's still there. And for me, if i use sweetener I only put one or two packets in a large glass full.
