Well, apparently your dad must be on the PGA tour and playing golf is how he earns a living to support you and the rest of your family. Otherwise, he would certainly not feel like a very good dad if he put an afternoon of golf with the 'boys" ahead of your birthday because he knows how much you love him and how important this is to you. He also knows that your birthday is only a once a year event and there're plenty of other times to golf.
Idea: If your dad isn't on the PGA tour, tell him you'd like to go along and caddy for him or share a golf cart with him. Afterwards, he can take you to a special bithday dinner.
Happy birthday kid anyway, and I sure hope your dad wakes up and makes the right choice. And don't be shy about having a "heart to heart" with him and letting him know how special these birthday dinners are to you.
One more thing, ask Dad if he's ever listened closely to the lyrics of a song that was popular in the mid 70's. I think the title was, "The Cat's in the Cradle" or it could have been, "Little Boy Blue is a Man."

Try not to be too disappointed. I am sure he loves you immensely. If he is a quality dad he will make it up to you twice over. This Golf tournament just happen to fall on your birthday. Golf is a tremendous love for many, many men of which some are fathers to their precious daughters.I don't believe he is placing you second to it. If he explained to you first, then he realize how important it is to you and he will still make it special.
If for some reason he doesn't, let him know how much it hurt..and I'm sure it will be a mistake that he never let happen again.

Give Dad a break, he usually spends your birthday with you, this year he is doing something for himself, AND he's already said you'll get to celebrate another night. Relax, it's not the day that's important, it's that he remembers and is doing something for you, something special, something nice.
We don't all always get to celebrate our birthday on the exact day, sometimes we have to be a bigger person and put someone else first. Your Dad has been there for you your whole life, let him have this day, you'll still get your birthday dinner, just be thankful you have your Dad there with you, and that he cares enough to make it up to you. Chill, it's not the end of the world, it's only one day in the rest of your life, in the grand scheme of things, not such a major deal. Give Dad a break and enjoy your dinner another night.

My dear, why is the exact day so important to you? Your father had no choice as to when you were born or when the tournament was scheduled so don't be so hard on him...You are lucky to have a father who will take you out to dinner on another date...Check with your friends and see if you're father isn't the best...

It's ok - as long as the relationship you have is good & you are normally a priority to him. There are times when dates & events just don't mesh - give him a bit of slack & allow him to go, but first make him pin down a day to go & spend with you to celebrate - that will show maturity on your part. Parents sacrifice greatly for their kids & once in a while, we need a break! Love him with all your heart & I'm sure he'll return it to you!! Happy Birthday!

Well i think your dad should be there for you. But if this tournament is very important that he cant miss it,then tell him he needs to make a special day for the both of you. Just make sure you let him know how you feel about him not being there for you.

You need to tell your dad how important it is for you guys to have dinner together, especially on your birthday. Tell him how you feel unloved when he makes selfish decisions like that. Be firm and confront him explaining in detail how you feel.

There will be many times in your life that things don't work out as you want them to. I am sure he will make you feel wonderful for your birthday even tho it isn't going to be on your birth day. Be grateful that he is there and acknowledging it.

Ask him if its something you can do with him. Just be grateful your dad is around mine died a year ago and I wish we would have gotten along better.
If you can't do something with him then just take it as a grain as salt.
