Cold turkey is the best way. If you really want to quit, then it shouldn't be that hard. Try tricking your mind because sometimes addictions are mental. If that doesn't work, then go for the nicorette patch or the gum. They are expensive but they work. It usually takes forever though... Just start off slow, then decrease the dosage daily. Eventually you won't need it and you will be cured of your addicition! Good luck and stick it out!!!!! Just think of all the money you will save from NOT buying cigarettes!!!!!

Set your self a quit date, decrease the number of cigaretts each day and the most important thing keep your self busy.

I quit cold turkey. First of all you have to want to quit. You can do many things to occupy your mind and hands. You can walk, drink water, chew gum, chew on a straw, talk to a friends, and many other physical things that you can do to distract yourself from smoking. You can be in contact with a medical professional and get help from them. You can wear a patch, use a type of plastic device with chemical inside to help take the craving away or you can do a lot of reading on line about how to go about stopping smoking. Please find two sites below.

I found that getting a bad case of the flu or bronchitis really aides in quitting.... I worked for me for over 1 year... I relapsed due to an inordinate amount of stress at work... Yes, yes, excuses, excuses

Another good way is to exercise regularly, lots of running and cardiovascular work outs will both help to quit and "repair" some of your lung capacity and heart health.

Keep yourself busy, and when you need a cig just wait ten min the craving will go away. It's all in the mind. it sucked when I quit I was such a miserable B****, but its better to be miserable when your quitting then be miserable laying in your death bed right!

There are a number of options:
Hypnotherapy
Aversion therapy
Acupuncture.
However the number one requirement is that you must want to quit.

Try quitting the same way you started, less and less each day, and hang around places where you usually don't smoke, or can't smoke.
