No, the Pope was right on the money. Most people didn't even read his speech or understand where the quote came from, or even that it wasn't the main point of the speech.
But when you keep your followers semi-literate, you can pretty much tell them what to think, what to bomb, and who to kill, and it will get done.
The Pope owes nobody an apology. Muslim leaders owe the west an apology for inciting this never ending cycle of violence every time someone farts in the general direction of Mecca.

So you're saying we should all live in fear of insulting the muslim belief? Should christians run around killing atheists because they insult Christ? Face it, there wouldn't be any more atheists.
Basically, the pope read from an old manuscript that said the muslim belief taught violence, they got mad, burned churches, threatened to kill the pope, then killed a nun, her bodyguard and a hospital worker. I'm thinking the pope was pretty much correct and how darn ignorant it is to combat being called violent with yet more violence. Have they apologized for murdering those three people they killed because an entirely different person said something they didn't like? Has Islam found the murderers and are they going to chop off their heads for murder? I doubt it. And you want the pope to apologize to them? How logical is that?
The muslim leaders speak out against christians all the time, their koran tells them to kill all infidels, and we're their biggest target, but do you see us finding innocent muslims to kill for what their koran tells them or what their leaders say? To christians, the person who said the supposedly "bad thing" is the only one who should be punished for it, not innocent people who had nothing to do with it.

In the volatility of the current religious climate of the world, anything else said in addition to " Oops! Sorry."
(like when you step on someone's toes)----
---anything additional, said with th intent to explain,
would Not have been heard by those most offended. It would only have further muddied the waters...
HOWEVER:
I would hope that this pope would NEXT seek to offer information as to what his actual current "take" is on the subject in reference to which he chose to read this one-sided, 15th century, anti-Islam quote: re: "jihad". The Emperor he was quoting was speaking against "jihad" as the Emperor perceived
it to be. This was the perception of many enemies of Islam at that time. This was quoted in some sort of academic discussion, the rest of which we have not been informed of, concerning some scholarly work of some other individual, being discussed at a conference.
Blah, blah, blah.
But since it was THE POPE SPEAKING, all bets were off. Consequently those desirous of fomenting madness were and are only too happy to spring forth delightedly under the banner of "RELIGIOUS INSULT by THE POPE!"
I certainly wish he would learn a lesson here about both the
power and the prison of his position--
"The whole world is watching... AND LISTENING !"

Muslims don't seem to be able to read and get pissed off and cry and fight and burn s*it whenever anyone says anything. I'm no fan of the Pope, but if those idiots knew how to read they might understand what he was saying. What he was saying was that according to Muslim law their God does not condone violence. That's why they are upset. They hate that, because they are violent people and want to kill. They are simply barbarians and will never learn.

From one asshole to another it's not gonna take place. The more it will take time and the more everything will have to stink from each other before someone really get pissed off and make drastic decision to end it all....

the pope said nothing wrong. he owes no one an apology. what he said was that some of mohammeds teachings cause violence. the way i see it those that are condemning , rioting and calling for a jihad only prove his statement.

You are mostly uninformed. The Pope spoke the truth. Terrorism is terrorism no matter how you say it.

Your hate is loud and clear. Apparently you would rather twist the Pope's words to fuel your hate, rather than look at what happened, What he actually said and why he said nothing wrong.
