I have had the sims 2 before and I uninstalled it, than I got the sims 2 holiday edition which is a stand alone pack and for some reason, it wont download on my computer...can you help me?

You probably have remnants of the previous install in your system registry. The way to fix that is to do number 12 on here...

To back up your registry before beginning, use the menu for File EXPORT and export a copy of your registry before you start. Put it on your desktop or some ez to find place.
After you clean the registry as per instructions, reboot and then install the Holiday Edition.
